Rangers take on Royal Antwerp in the Europa League tomorrow and they will be hoping to book their place in the next round of the competition. The Scottish outfit secured a 4-3 first-leg win over the Belgian side away from home and they are firm favourites to go through. Not only do they have the all-important lead in the tie, but they also have four away goals. Steven Gerrard’s side head into this game on the back of four wins in their last five matches in all competitions and are full of confidence. The Ibrox outfit have managed to step up in European games consistently this season and there is no reason why they cannot do the same once again. Meanwhile, Antwerp have failed to win their last four matches in all competitions and they will need a minor miracle to turn this tie around. Range...
Celtic have parted ways with manager Neil Lennon this morning following a run of just 12 wins in 28 games in all competitions since mid-October, with assistant manager John Kennedy taking interim charge of first-team duties. While the former Hoops player has taken the brunt of the dismal form of the Parkhead outfit, there is no denying that some of the players failed to live up to the expectations this term. Celtic saw Jeremie Frimpong and Olivier Ntcham leave last month, and while the duo had no hand in the club’s struggles, their exits spoke volumes. Some of the players were no longer keen on remaining at the club, and there was little Lennon could do about it. Frimpong is grateful for the chance the erstwhile Celtic boss gave him during his time at Parkhead, and the Bayer Leverkusen ful...
Neil Lennon is no longer Celtic manager having stepped down this morning, and assistant manager John Kennedy has taken charge of first-team duties on an interim basis. The Hoops are 18 points behind bitter rivals Rangers with eight games remaining, and Lennon’s departure appears to have come too little too late. Celtic fans started calling for his exit when it became apparent that the Light Blues would run away with the title if left unchecked. Rangers are now seven points away from sealing the Scottish Premiership, and while the Hoops faithful are not happy with that development, it appears that many are pleased that he has finally departed Parkhead. According to The Athletic’s Kieran Devlin, Celtic PLC’s share price had risen by 2.5 percent 20 minutes after the stock exchange opened at 8...

Sportslens View The 28-year-old has around 16 months left on his current deal at Ibrox, and extension talks are yet to commence. Rangers are focusing solely on winning the Scottish Premiership at the moment, but they will not be keen on losing one of their best players anytime soon and are likely to rebuff any interests for him this summer. Goldson has been very crucial to their impressive campaign this term, starting all of their Scottish Premiership and Europa League games so far. The former Brighton & Hove Albion star is attracting interests from the Premier League again from the look of things, and a retur...

The actions of the players will certainly rule them out of the club’s midweek game. The likes of Zungu, Patterson and Bassey could have played a part in Thursday’s Europa League clash against Royal Antwerp. It will be interesting to see how their actions affect their long term future at the club. The Rangers manager a...
Celtic are set to hand Callum McGregor the club captaincy when Scott Brown leaves the club as per Football Insider. The 35-year-old’s contract is due to expire in the summer and it is unclear whether the Scottish outfit will hand him an extension. The Celtic star has regressed this season and is clearly not the player he used to be. The Hoops need to move on and bring in better players if they want to progress as a club. McGregor has been a fabulous servant for the club in recent years and he has the qualities to lead them in future. The 27-year-old is an academy product and knows the club inside out. He understands the fanbase and should be able to relate to their values. There is no doubt that McGregor is probably best suited to take over the captaincy role in the current squad. He has t...
According to Sunday World, Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders is manager Jurgen Klopp’s choice to replace him at Anfield when the time is right. Sportslens View Gerrard will surely want to manage Liverpool one day, but he might have to wait a little while longer if Klopp gets his wish. The 43-year-old has three years left on his current deal at Ibrox, and Klopp’s contract also expires at the same time. The Liverpool boss was linked with exit rumours a couple of days ago after his side fell to a third straight Premier League defeat, but he has since poured cold water on them. He could remain at Anfield until 2024 or beyond, and t...
