Ekiti governor constitutes white paper committee on college fumigation crisis

Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has set up a White Paper Committee to consider the report of the Investigative Panel set up by the state government to look into the circumstances that led to the hospitalisation of some students of the College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ijero Ekiti, after a controversial fumigation exercise of the institution in May. Haiti asks US, UN to send troops after president’s assassination

Haiti has asked Washington and the UN for troops to secure its ports, airport and other strategic sites after the assassination of President Jovenel Moise opened a power vacuum in the crisis-hit Caribbean nation, an official said Friday. The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Oyo State Chapter, has urged the Ministry of Sports and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to immortalise the late Green Eagles midfield player, Mudasiru Lawal. The 2019 Governorship candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Zamfara, Alhaji Sani Abdullahi, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Lago governor appoints new LASPPPA chief

Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has appointed Kehinde Osinaike as the General Manager of the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA). Osinaike’s appointment contained in a letter LGS/HOS/178/Vol.X/30 issued on Friday by the Head of Service, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola, takes immediate effect. A bill seeking to prohibit bank employees from operating foreign accounts has passed second reading at the house of representatives. The bank employees’ declaration of assets act amendment bill also seeks to mandate the bankers to declare assets of their spouses and children less than 18 years old. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had in March ordered those in the banking sector to declare their assets in accordance with the act, raising questions as to the legality of such directive.
