South African duo Die Antwoord will no longer be appearing at the ALT+LDN festival this summer after multiple artists on the lineup criticized their presence. Two artists also slated to play, ZAND and Bob Vylan, publicly spoke out last week about Die Antwoord’s appearance at the festival, citing past allegations of abuse against the duo, which they have denied. ZAND took to Instagram to voice their concerns, saying that while they were grateful for the opportunity to play at ALT+LDN, “it must be said [I] do not feel comfortable at all with a certain band (Die Antwoord) playing this festival.” “Having a safe space for victims and all people should be a priority to all of us and in this instance because it is not, I will not allow my stance on this to come off as comp...

Courtney Love isn’t just the lead singer of Hole; she’s a Golden Globe-nominated actress. Or, at least she was, as the multi-hyphenate has largely stepped back from mainstream film roles since the early aughts. In a new Instagram post, she revealed why, and it’s unfortunately not terribly surprising: #MeToo. “One day I might talk about it. I love acting,” Love captioned an image of herself attending the Golden Globes. “I stopped being capable of it after a bunch of #metoos. No one would believe me, and it wouldn’t stop. So I left, and it left. And I’m good with it. Maybe, in my next life I’ll be stronger & able to endure it .. I tip my hat to those who can.” Love was nominated for the Best Performance by an Actress Golden Globe for her role in Milos Forman’s 1996 classic The People vs....

That same year, former American Apparel employee Rachel Green alleged Callen pinned her against a dressing room wall. Green said she had pushed Callen off and immediately told her co-workers. Actress Claire Ganshert told the Times she met Callen in 2012 and claims she had a four-year affair with the comic while he was married. Callen reportedly told her that women have a “biological, primal desire to be raped.” Later in 2017, comic ...
Starcrawler’s Arrow de Wilde (photo by Kimberley Ross) and The Growlers’ Brooks Nielsen (photo by David Brendan Hall) The Growlers were at the center of the accusations recently raised against Burger Records, which ultimately led to the label shutting down. At the time, frontman Brooks Nielsen said the band was “committed to conducting ourselves in a way our mothers, wives, sisters, and daughters would be proud of.” However, it seems as recently as January the band was engaging in misconduct, as Starcrawler’s Arrow de Wilde has levied new accusations against the band. Starcrawler joined The Growlers on their 12-date Australian tour at the top of the year. When de Wilde got off stage after finishing a Melbourne show, she was covered in sweat and fake blood, a typical part of Sta...

San Francisco punk band Culture Abuse have broken up in light of singer David Kelling admitting to sexual misconduct with an underaged girl. In a statement on Instagram, the other members of Culture Abuse emphasized that “the victim is our first priority.” Before sharing the anonymous individual’s full account of Kelling’s actions, with her consent, the band noted, “However we do not want [our breakup] to be the focus of this story, as survivors come forward, we commend their bravery and absolutely need to respect and listen to them. We are well aware that this does not fix the pain caused but we are hoping it’s a first step. There are no excuses for this behavior and it cannot be allowed.” They went on to say they would disassociate from Kelling, but urged him to “seek therapy to unlearn ...
