Critics will say that a lot of fashion comes down to reinventing the wheel—that it’s hard to come up with a previously unexplored idea. This, I’ll admit, is true. If there’s anything I’ve learnt in my 11 years as an editor, it’s that fashion is cyclical, and what goes around will eventually come back around. What you can’t predict, however, is how the designers will interpret it when it does make its way on to the style agenda once more. Today, we’re here to talk about the spring/summer 2022 print trends that are already shaping the season ahead. I’ll tell you now these are prints you’ll have seen before. Heck, these are prints that you might find lurking in the depths of your wardrobe. But showcased on the runway in some pret...
I love jeans, specifically my pair of white barrel jeans. Don’t be put off by the name; they’re much more versatile than they sound. The Arket pair that I own are brilliant because the denim is thick and sturdy, and they have a high-rise fit, so they are really comfortable to wear. The wide barrel shape is surprisingly flattering, as it creates a beautiful silhouette when you tuck in tops. As it has a clean hem, I also find this pair easy to dress up and down, maximising its wearability. White jeans are a balance of risk and reward. They are a risky choice if, like me, you’re clumsy. But if you can avoid any coffee or red wine spillages, you’ll be rewarded with lots of styling options—and chic ones at that. To prove my point, I’ve assembled five different looks cen...
Spring 2022’s fashion trends have been beckoning us since last September when the fashion week presentations were flooded with bold colour, dreamy dresses, and low key but luxurious separates. Though it may still be frosty outside, we can’t help but get excited about spring on the horizon and start planning our outfits for the upcoming season. We’re determined to find a way to start incorporating spring-ready looks into our wardrobes as early as possible— even if that means just adding a few bright colours to our outfits here and there. This year is still all about easy-to-wear dresses (particularly the knitted variety), but co-ords and skirts (mini or maxi) have also risen their way to the top of our shopping list. So if you’re looking for...
I am always game for a risqué trend, and luckily, the S/S 22 runways were chock-full of them. What started as a cut-out here and there quickly escalated into barely there trends of all kinds featuring tops that should hardly be considered tops, skirts so small you feel a little frightened looking at them and cut-out garments that have you wondering how they are even being held together. While I know these “naked” trends, as we like to call them, certainly aren’t for everyone, I decided to take it upon myself to share with you the five naked trends I plan on dabbling in come next year. Ahead, check out the five trends that will have you doing a double take, and shop all my favourite versions that have hit the market so far. These trends are not for the fain...
Four different seasons with four ever-changing sets of style trends can threaten to burn a hole in even the savviest shopper’s pocket. Well, fear not, because you have it on good authority (from, well, us) that this spring’s wardrobe reshuffle needn’t take more than eight carefully picked items. Yep, you can get your spring style entirely on point with items that you already have in your wardrobe. From the coat that defines the season to the trainers you’ll wear forever, these are the pieces you’ll need for your springtime capsule, and they all work beautifully together. Even better is you might own a lot of them already, so this will be a good opportunity to remind yourself of the pieces you might have forgotten about ...
I am so excited about S/S 22’s fashion trends. The overarching mood was one of real optimism, but where the previous season perhaps went into overdrive with the desire (desperation?) to get dressed up for even the most low-key of weekly grocery shops, the outlook for S/S 22 is that there is a time and place to be extra fabulous but still a strong demand and a necessity for easy, simple, luxurious, gorgeous clothes and outfits you can fling on in a hurry. There are places to go, people to see and the many ensembles to suit. So while on the one hand there’s a very clear shift towards revealing, ultra-sassy, cut-to-here-and-slashed-to-there kind of dressing, there’s also a very chic, understated antithesis at play. It speaks to a modern shopper’...
Photo: Courtesy of Y/Project; Courtesy of Marques’Almeida; Courtesy of Jil Sander Is it too early to be thinking about spring? Not if I have anything to do with it. It’s true that the worst of winter has yet to rear its head (blizzards and holiday parties included), but the thought of vivid, saturated colors and breezy fabrics is all that’s occupying my mind right now. Much of that has to do with the brilliant looks showcased during the spring/summer 2022 shows. From Miu Miu’s “early aughts meets prep school” collection to Jil Sander’s minimalist show, there were several standout moments that have lived in my head rent-free since their debuts in October. They’ve also inspired a shopping l...
As you know, H&M is one of the best high-street stores for, not only identifying trends, but starting them. After a very successful winter season, in which more H&M cult buys were born than ever before, if it’s latest drop is anything to go by, the high street hotspot looks set to continue leading the affordable style charge into spring/summer, too. We all have a special place in our hearts for John Lewis, don’t we? Whether it’s memories of frequenting the beauty counters, browsing the homewares or visiting the free in-house styling service to find the perfect outfit, the store (and now it’s website) has long been a much loved part of the British high street. For this spring, though, we have to say they’ve truly outdone themselves in the fashion department. For one, the new campaign centred around the theme of ‘Wear What You Love’ hits just right, moving away from fleeting trends and tapping into the value we get from easy-to-wear, joyful pieces made to be cherished. But it’s the introduction of over 50 new brands that’s really had us applauding the high street hero this season. They’ve seriously upped the stakes by adding a hug...

As the new summer collections have started to drop recently across designer and high-street lines, colour is suddenly the most exciting new trend—a welcome respite from the sea of beige and browns we’ve been seeing all over street style for the last couple of seasons. It’s no surprise, really, as everyone from Jacquemus (who could forget that candy coloured Provençal catwalk) and Gucci to Tibi and Emilia Wickstead sent a foray of fruity shades down the runways last fashion month and there’s been a frenzy of colour combo experimentation ever since. From lemon yellow to apple green and the surprisingly flattering tangerine orange, be prepared to get zesty this season. And if you happen to be a colour-phobe, there’s no need to fear, as the trend is easier to wea...
It’s no secret that I go hard for a good trend, but there’s also a fine line between tapping into an of-the-moment look and going a little overboard on it. In other words, my approach to trying trends is to avoid wearing them in a way that looks too trendy if you know what I mean, which is why I keep a running list of ways to wear the season’s freshest silhouettes that I think are the perfect combination of trendy and basic. These ‘fits combine tried-and-true wardrobe staples with trend pieces in an effortless way that honestly has me inspired to recreate them. Since sharing outfit tips is just what I do, I created a fail-safe guide to wearing the hottest spring and summer trends (and ensuring they’re not wearing you). To me,...
