Confession: At Who What Wear, we often use NET-A-PORTER as a bit of a ready-made shopping edit for the new season. Without fail, it highlights those brands you need to take note of—like Christopher John Rodgers, Rave Review and Petar Petrov—alongside the silhouettes and styles that are destined to hit big over the coming months. Of course, it’s our job to narrow down this selection even further, editing and curating until we have an easily digestible selection of items that we’re sure you’re going to love. As someone who lives in London and has classic wardrobe taste, I lean on my trench coat from the first sign of spring to the last days of summer. It’s one of the hardest-working pieces in my capsule. And that’s mainly because I find it to be the most efficient and effective way to make any spring outfit look expensive. Invest in the perfect trench, and feeling good about your outfit at this time of year becomes a whole lot easier. Trust me. The best part is they go with everything. I layer mine over neutrals, usually relaxed tailoring for the office and classic blue jeans at the weekend. But if you’re a maximalist, a trench also provides the perfect anchor to pull all your bright and printed outfits together. If you haven’t already found The One or ...
The best leather jackets can be found in many places. They are the ultimate jacket for looking super cool when you need to take your outfit from zero to 100. Not only does such a key piece journey with you, looking good no matter what the trend climate may dictate, but the right one will also get better with age. Remember that the best leather jackets get softer—they retain their shape (although leather does stretch a little after the first few wears, so buy a snug size if you want a close fit). Naturally, finding The One is hard—it’s a commitment. We’ve edited the current collection with a ferocious, hard-to-please eye, bringing you the greatest leather jackets you can buy right now. Today’s leather jackets are so much more than a line-up of black bikers (howev...
The sun has finally arrived! And not just the chilly, blue sky kind— actual warmth on your face, remove-a-layer kind of sunshine. And all we can say is hoo-rah. We were due a bit of respite, weren’t we? The next few weeks is looking positively balmy compared to all the drizzle we’ve had to endure, which means it’s finally time to start getting excited about spring fashion once again. Yes, that means the elevating power of trench coats, the ease of a simple blazer and jeans outfit, and the joy of throwing on your favourite dress with trainers— it’s all back. I don’t know about you but my over-worked winter wardrobe is welcoming it with open arms. If you haven’t already, this week is the perfect time to unearth your spring wardrobe from its vacuum packs or storage boxes ...
To say that we’re excited about spring would be a gargantuan understatement. With weddings back on the agenda (the sort that bears a striking resemblance to those held prior to 2020), holidays on the horizon, and the general enthusiasm that comes with brighter, warmer days, spring is all we can talk about right now. And with it, a large portion of our conversations centre around what we’ll be wearing this spring. Like anyone else, each of our editors has their own unique aesthetic, honed by the things which they, of course, like, but also defined by the things they don’t. What you choose not to wear says just as much about you as the things you do, and our editors are no exception to this rule. Curious to find out what they’ll actuall...

Hi, I’m Emily, and I have expensive taste. As far back as I can remember, I’ve always had a preference for the finer things in life (a fact my parents have always lamented). It’s probably why I ended up working in fashion in the first place after being attracted by the beauty and luxury of it all. The thing is, like most of us, I don’t have the budget to indulge these habits often, and although sometimes I might be tempted, I’m not about bankrupting myself to own a full designer closet. Instead, I admire from afar and choose my moments to invest in capsule pieces that will elevate my wardrobe most effectively—a classic designer handbag, for example, or a beautiful coat that I know I’ll wear again and again. For my day-to-day wardrobe, though, over my 10 years of working in ...

Up there with tan sandals, denim cut-offs, and floral dresses, another signifier that summer is on the horizon is the latest influx of crochet that has woven itself into the shopping sphere. Everywhere I look right now, I’m presented with pieces in this nostalgia-inducing fabrication. Bags were, naturally, the first to drop, with crochet totes being served up by the likes of J.W Anderson and Chloé as early as January. But now, as we allow ourselves to begin to daydream about the warmer months ahead, I’ve noticed that crochet clothes have also started to trickle in—specifically crochet tops. The craft certainly has roots in the grandma aesthetic—I myself ate meals from floral plates set upon crochet mats whenever I visited my Scottish granny, so it holds a very special place in m...
So, what makes it so great? Well, being knitted means it will still keep the current chill out, yet the creamy colour feels fresh and spring-ready. The wrap shape is really flattering on a range of body shapes, and looks great with bare legs as we transition through the seasons. Plus, it feels polished enough for office days paired with boots and even date nights where I’d probably add some chunky gold jewellery— but also comfy for weekends with easy trainers. Knit dresses are inherently versatile, and although they’ve been a big trend over the last couple of years, this style is definitely classic enough to last many more seasons to come. See? I told you it was good. Keep scrolling to shop my new favourite & Other Stories dress, as well as some more new-in knitted...
Lately, I’ve noticed an uptick in the number of classic outfits landing on the fashion set. I attribute it to the impact the lockdowns have had on our wardrobes—fewer occasions to wear trendy items and a larger focus on buying great staples and investment pieces. But that isn’t to say that trendy fashion is fading away. Micro miniskirts, oversized leather jackets, Y2K style, high-impact colours and a fresh crop of micro-trends are in full force for spring. No matter where you land on the trend-adoption spectrum, though, it’s always a great idea to have an array of timeless looks on standby. With a small collection of wardrobe capsule pieces, you can create a number of polished, easy looks that work season after season. It all comes down to so...
The S/S 22 runways made one thing clear: Y2K fashion is back. For spring, brands ushered in so many takes on 2000s style that it cannot be ignored, and it is already continuing into the incoming A/W 22 collections, so I know it’s not a fleeting trend. This time around, though, brands have reimagined the OG pieces with modern twists that make them more wearable, in my opinion. Just look at the updated takes on low-rise pants, one of the most controversial trends of the season. While the trend might conjure images of Paris Hilton in tight jeans with a two-inch rise, low-rise pants have been rethought in 2022. Now, we’re seeing styles with wider, slouchier silhouettes, long inseams, and rises that sit underneath the waist. The updated proportions feel much more...
