Amid battle against COVID-19 pandemic, the Lagos State Government has charged residents against the unhealthy practice and be mindful of a cleaner environment as they celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir coming up at the weekend. Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tunji Bello, who disclosed this in a release, Wednesday, reiterated the need for residents to demonstrate utmost love to their environment even as they celebrate. The Nigerian Army is to investigate Wednesday’s attack on the convoy of Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno by suspected Boko Haram terrorists, Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sagir Musa, disclosed in a statement on Thursday in Abuja. Musa said that the governor’s convoy came under terrorists fire while visiting Baga town. Afenifere: Pa Fasanmi lived a fulfilled life
Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, says the late Pa Ayo Fasanmi who died on Wednesday at the age of 94 lived a life of fulfillment. The Spokesman for Afenifere, Mr. Yinka Odumakin, said this in a telephone interview with newsmen on Thursday. He said, “He lived a long life of fulfillment and we pray his soul rests in perfect peace.” Odumakin said the group would send in a tribute to the late Yoruba leader later. Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has signed the revised 2020 budget of N146 billion (N146,374,641,080) into law, as against the earlier approved budget of N169,557,658,300.00. The police in Kaduna State have commenced investigation into the killing of a Kaduna-based lawyer, Haro Gandu, by gunmen at his Abuja Road residence on Sunday, 26 July, 2020 and abduction of his wife and son. It was gathered that late Gandu was an Assistant Director in the state Ministry of Justice. The Kano State Fire Service has confirmed one person killed in a fire incident involving a petrol tanker at Kofar Ruwa area of Kano metropolis.
