Man arrested for raping 9-year-old stepdaughter

Adamawa Police Command arrested Obiora Patrick, a 39-year-old man who resides on No. 46 Hospital Road, Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area of the state for raping a 9-year-old minor, his own stepdaughter. The command in a press statement signed by its police public relations officer, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje said the suspect upon his arrest volunteered confessional statement while the victim is undergoing medical screenings. The command calls on members of the general public to key into the fight against sexual assault against women and children and caution parents and guardians to closely monitor their wards. The government of Adamawa State has denied allegations by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) that state governor Ahmadu Fintiri had failed to observe COVID-19 public health protocols last Tuesday at Port Harcourt airport, suggesting that the claim was politically-motivated. Gunmen kill 21 in fresh Kaduna village attack

At least 21 people have been reported killed while 28 others sustained various degrees of injuries when gunmen attacked Kukum Daji Village of Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Sunday night. While the State Police Command is yet to confirm the incident, the President of the Community, Mr. Yashen Titus, told newsmen that the gunmen, suspected to be herdsmen, invaded the venue of a wedding party in the community at about 10 pm on Sunday night. Titus, who explained that the suspected herdsmen opened fire on the people who attended the party, said 19 people died on the spot while two others later died at the hospital. Late former Edo Speaker’s wife, driver abducted by gunmen

Wife of late former Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Hassana Garuba, has been reportedly abducted by gunmen. Her husband, Zakawanu Garuba, who died yesterday at Abuja after a brief illness, was being taken home to Auchi for burial when the widow, her three children and the aged mother of the late former Speaker encountered the gunmen at Kabba junction in Kogi State. They were said to have abducted the widow and the driver, leaving the three children and their grandmother stranded in the vehicle. Ekiti bans traditional festivals in towns, villages

The Ekiti State Government has directed traditional rulers in towns and villages to either postpone or cancel for the rest of the year, all pending local festivals in their domains to curb the spread of Coronavirus. Nigerian government threatens sanctions over violation of airport coronavirus protocols

The Federal Government is probing reported violations of COVID-19 safety protocols by some high profile Nigerians accessing some of the newly-reopened airports in the country. The probe, government said, involving Adamawa State governor, Ahmadu Fintiri and the former governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, is with a view to sanctioning violators if it is established that they indeed violated the rules, or apologise to them should the result of the investigations exonerate them.
