Kano restates commitment to sanitation, hygiene
The Kano State Government has reiterated its commitment to the improvement of sanitation and hygiene for sustainable development in the state. Dr Kabiru Getso, the state’s Commissioner for Environment, stated this while inspecting the monthly sanitation on Saturday in Kano. Getso said that the state government had introduced the monthly exercise to mobilise residents’ participation in waste and drain clearance in their communities. Two NSCDC officials killed in road accident in Ondo
At least two officials of the Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) lost their lives while one other was injured in a motor accident on Friday along the Ondo-Ore Road in Ondo State. The officers were said to be coming from a burial function in Okitipupa area of the state when the ugly incident happened According to an eyewitness who explained that the vehicle the officers were travelling with, skidded off the road and somersaulted. Nigerian government announces two-day total closure of Third Mainland Bridge
The Federal Government on Thursday announced a two-day total closure of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State for a concrete work on some sections. The Federal Controller of Works in the state, Olukayode Popoola, revealed this to newsmen in Lagos. Popoola said the closure would begin from midnight of October 30 and end at midnight of November 1. “We are planning to cast two number expansion joints, and we shall close the Third Mainland Bridge from midnight of October 30 until midnight of November 1,” he said. CP: Six policemen killed, five stations razed in Oyo
The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mr Chucks Enwonwu, has said six policemen were killed while five police stations were burnt by hoodlums during the violence that trailed the #EndSARS protest on the state. The CP, who said this at a press briefing in Ibadan on Wednesday, said nine suspects were however arrested in connection with arson and looting in Iseyin, in the Iseyin Local Government Area of the state.
