Benue governor commiserates with assemblyman over wife’s demise
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue has commiserated with the Majority Leader of the Benue State House of Assembly (BSHA), Mr. Tyoapine Cheme, on the death of his wife, Roseline. This is contained in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Terver Akase, and made available to newsmen on Saturday in Makurdi. Ortom in the statement described the death of Mrs Cheme as “shocking and quite painful, not only to her family but also to the entire state”. He described her was a God-fearing woman who upheld true Christian virtues and related cordially with those who came in contact with her. The governor urged the Majority Leader and the entire Cheme family to take solace in the fact that their wife and mother lived an exemplary life and had gone to be with the Lord. Edo government warns worship, events centres against violating coronavirus protocols
The Edo State Government has warned owners of event centres, eateries, restaurants, pubs, shopping malls and other places hosting social events in the state against violating the state’s COVID-19 prevention protocols. In a statement signed on Saturday by the Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie, the government said event centres or business premises that violate regulations on social gatherings would be shut and owners or operators would be prosecuted at designated mobile courts. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have resigned from all duties related to the UK’s royal family. Police arrest two with truckload of mattresses meant for flood victims in Bayelsa
The police in Bayelsa State have arrested two suspects with a truckload of mattresses allegedly meant for flood victims. The mattresses, it was learned, were warehoused in an undisclosed location in Yenagoa the state capital when the suspect’s break-in and stole the mattresses. Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO) in the state had raised alarm over the stolen mattresses which prompted the police to react. Abducted NTA reporter regains freedom
Chidiebere Onyia, a reporter with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), who was abducted on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, by gunmen, has regained her freedom. The nursing mother was said to have been released by her abductors in the early hours of Sunday. Newsmen reports that Mrs Onyia was abducted on Tuesday evening at Woji while driving home after work.
