Just two days after GRiZ and Subtronics unveiled the long-awaited sequel to “Griztronics,” Rich DietZ have dropped a remix—and it’s a big one. Considering the 48-hour timeframe and the electrifying production, it seems the virtuosic duo were especially inspired for their latest house music masterstroke. They completely transformed the dubstep banger, dropping a tech house nuke with the quirky yet explosive sound they’ve delivered time and again. Rich DietZ managed to harness the acid-fueled leads of GRiZ and Subtronics’ original and interlace them with a chunky bassline, reimagining the festival anthem for the clubs. It’s a dichotomy they’ve executed with precision en route to becoming one of the most exciting acts in house music in 2021....

Not only did he provide a little taste of what’s to come, but he also shared the list of collaborators involved. Starting off the video is a portion of his remix of this festival season’s biggest track, “Do It To It” by ACRAZE and Cherish. Maintaining the vocals from the 2006 single heavily sampled throughout, Subtronics sprinkles in some heavyweight bass and transforms the house anthem into a pounding dubstep banger. The next is a collaboration with Zeds Dead. After introducing the track with a sample from Basemen...

Summer Camp Music Festival celebrated its 20th anniversary last weekend at Chillicothe, Illinois’ Three Sisters Park. The Midwest electronic and jam gathering was initially postponed from 2020 to 2021, then later rescheduled its annual Memorial Day celebration to mid-August. While some music festivals cater to a specific genre and community of fans, Summer Camp Music Festival understands there’s a big overlap between live music fans and genres of music. Last night Subtronics headlined the first full-capacity show at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre since the onset of the pandemic—and he did not pull any punches. The dubstep superstar, who said headlining the venue was his “number one life goal since the age of 5,” threw down a set for the ages as he rattled the monoliths flanking the legendary open air venue. Subtronics cycled through a relentless barrage of his own original music as well as mind-bending tracks released by his bass music contemporaries on his Cyclops Recordings imprint. The performance was highlights galore, but it was the drop of one unreleased song that sent ripples through the electronic music community after the momentous “Cyclops Rocks” show. Titled “Gravity...
After months of teasing, Marshmello has finally released Shockwave, a 12-track masterstroke channeling the producer’s long-lost electronic roots. The record kicks off with the spellbinding “Fairytale,” a brooding beat that eventually culminates in a thick melodic trap drop with booming hip-hop 808s. The tongue-in-cheek “Supernovacane” follows, in which the polarizing producer tips his helmet to his haters with a flippant vocal intro. “Marshmello is the most overrated electronic music artist by the way, ever to exist, of all-time,” whines an uncredited blowhard. “It’s so mediocre. To have it become so popular makes no sense.” One of the album’s most anticipated cuts, “Jiggle It,” delivers thank...
