Astroworld Festival Cancelled After Crowd Surge Leaves 8 Dead, Several More Injured

Details are still developing but the Saturday (November 6) date for the show will not be moving forward as an investigation into what took place on the ground at the event is ongoing. ABC 13 reports that along with the eight people killed at the sold-out event, hundreds more suffered varying injuries as first responders and police continued to arrive at NRG Park in Houston, Texas on Friday (November 5). Thousands Demand Refunds After Equipment Issues Shut Down Music at Texas Festival
The sun set early for a music festival at Isla Blanca Park in Texas over the weekend. Thousands of Sol Beach Festival attendees are demanding refunds after the power went out, the result of an incident that the Cameron County Parks Department attributed on Tuesday to “unforeseen third-party equipment issues.” The festival was put on by AARM Business Group and started on August 28th. Attendees were told that Puerto Rican superstar Myke Towers would be performing, among others, but the rapper failed to appear as a result of the equipment issues. Paul Rusesabagina, the ex-hotelier immortalised in the film “Hotel Rwanda”, never belonged to a rebel group that sought to overthrow President Paul Kagame, one of the former rebels accused with him of terrorism told a court on Wednesday. “Rusesabagina was never a member of the National Liberation Front (FLN), he was a civilian … He is not a soldier,” former FLN spokesman Callixte Sankara told the court in Kigali. He said the prosecution had presented no evidence to substantiate its claim that Rusesabagina had given orders to the FLN, which has claimed responsibility for attacks in past years that it said were aimed at ousting the president. Officials have disclosed that skipper Asisat Oshoala and experienced defender Onome Ebi have overcome visa hitches and should feature for the Super Falcons against Portugal Sunday in continuation of the Summer Series in Texas, USA.
