Source: Vimeo / Matt Reeves It seems like the Coronavirus continues to effect the entertainment industry even as it gets back into the swing of things and for movie buffs who were looking forward to many sequels, remakes and blockbusters slated to release this year and next, it seems like they’ll have to wait a tad bit longer. While we still await word on the release of highly anticipated films like Jordan Peele’s Candyman, A Quiet Place 2, and Marvel’s Black Widow, Vulture is reporting that Robert Pattinson’s The Batman won’t swing into theaters until 2022. Originally slated for an October 1, 2021 premier date, those plans seem to have gone up in smoke after production on the Matt Reeves film stopped as soon as Pattinson allegedly tested positive for COVID-19. Looking to avoid compet...
As the pandemic continues to cripple the film industry, Warner Bros. has once again been forced to reconfigure its upcoming release state. Notably, The Batman has been pushed all the way to 2022. The move was widely anticipated following Warner Bros.’s earlier announcement moving Dune to October 1st, 2021 — The Batman’s previous release date. The Robert Pattinson-starring Batflick will now swoop into theaters on March 4th, 2022. Additionally, Warner Bros. has moved The Flash to November 4th, 2022 and Shazam! 2 to June 2nd, 2023. Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam, previously set for release in December 2021, is now undated. However, one major tentpole is actually seeing its release date moved up. To replace Black Adam on the calendar, The Matrix 4 will now premiere on Dec...
Put the Batmobile back in the garage, Matt Reeves’ The Batman has been delayed again. After resuming filming just three days ago, production has been halted because, according to Deadline, a person on set has tested positive for coronavirus. Update: Vanity Fair reports that The Dark Knight himself, Robert Pattinson, is the one who tested positive. Principal photography kicked off in January of this year in London. Then, like everything else, it underwent a great shock in March as the pandemic overran the globe. According to Reeves, they had only shot about 25% of the movie. After a five-and-a-half month hiatus, the Batgang got Battogether on Monday. Oh well, it was Batnice while it lasted. In a statement, Warner Bros. said, “A member of The Batman production has te...

Warner Bros. closed out DC Fandome on Saturday night with their highly anticipated panel for Matt Reeves’ The Batman. As expected, the event saw our most comprehensive look at the forthcoming re-imagining, which stars Robert Pattinson as The Dark Knight. Gorgeously soundtracked to Nirvana’s dour “Something in the Way”, the film’s first trailer reveals a Gotham City awash in the kind of realism that once fueled Christopher Nolan’s universe. Yet unlike his trilogy, Reeves’ vision carries a more dystopian, punk rock edge that feels like a DIY deconstruction of Frank Miller’s Year One (though, according to Reeves, the story actually takes place in the second year of Bruce Wayne’s life as Batman). Story-wise, it appears there’s a creepy murder mystery that’s sending Jeffrey Wright’s Commis...
It’s long been known that the forthcoming Batman film starring Robert Pattinson is intended to launch a new trilogy. But it turns out there’s even more story to tell, as director Matt Reeves has signed on to bring a spin-off TV series to HBO Max. The streaming service today announced it has given a series commitment to the project from Reeves, The Batman producer Dylan Clark, and Boardwalk Empire creator Terence Winter. The police procedural will be set in the universe Reeves and Pattinson establish in the upcoming film. Winter will write the script, which will follow members of the Gotham City Police Department as they wrestle with Gotham’s colorful cast of ne’er-do-wells. A press release describes it as building “upon the motion picture’s examination of the anatomy of...
