The Department of State Services, DSS, has denied attempting to arrest Yoruba activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State. However, in a statement, DSS denied that they made a grab for Igboho. In the statement by Peter Afunanya, Public Relations Officer, DSS described the reports as “misinforming” and “fake”. Justice Kafarati, who was once the Attorney General of Bauchi state gave his last breath on Thursday night. The national leadership of JAC non-teaching staff comprises of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and Non-Academic Staff Union of the Universities (NASU). The union which conveyed its decision during media briefing it held after the conciliatory meeting with the federal government, explained that it agreed to suspend the national strike after extracting some concessions from the government. Court orders Ekiti university to reinstate sacked workers
File Photo The National Industrial Court in Akure has ordered the Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, to reinstate 85 non-teaching staff members sacked by the institution in December 2019. The judge, Kiyersohot Damulak, also gave the university a 30-day ultimatum to pay the reinstated workers their salaries, emoluments, and allowances from the date of their unlawful disengagement till date. In the judgement delivered on January 28, a copy of which was seen by newsmen on Wednesday, the court also directed the university to pay the workers the three months salary they were being owed before they unlawfully disengaged. Oyo governor to declare Hijrah holiday from next year
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, on Wednesday, declared that starting from next year, the government would declare Hijrah holiday in line with the yearnings of the Muslim community in the state. NEMA begins distribution of N500 million relief material to flood victims in Imo
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has commenced the distribution of relief materials worth N500 million to flood victims in eight Local Government Areas in Imo State. The operations, said the Head of Imo/Abia Operations of the agency, Evans Ugoh, is in fulfilment of the assurance from NEMA Director-General Mr Mohammed Mohammed that the agency will continue to support victims of disasters across the country.
