Senate reassures Nigerians on PIB, electoral, constitutional amendment bills

Senate President Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan said on Friday that the Senate was closer to passing the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB), the Electoral Act Amendment Bill, and the Constitution Amendment Bill, assuring Nigerians that the bills will be passed between now and July year. deadmau5 Announces New 2021 U.S. Summer Tour Dates

Getter Announces 2021 North American Tour

Fresh off the release of his scintillating Some Creatures EP, Getter will soon hit the road on an eponymous tour. The hip-hop and bass music production virtuoso today announced his “Some Creatures” tour, which will kick off this fall on September 10th at to-be-announced location. Surefire highlights include a performance at Las Vegas’ trippy, immersive nightlife destination Area 15 on Saturday, September 11th and a set at famed Downtown Los Angeles club Exchange two months later on November 11th. Getter will then hit a slew of major cities such as New Orleans, Salt Lake City, and Philadelphia before tying a bow on the tour at Orlando’s Gilt Nightclub on December 18th. In December 2020, San Holo celebrated his Counter Records signing with his hit single, “bb u ok?” Since then, the song title has become synonymous with the San Holo brand, and when February came around the Dutch producer announced his sophomore album, bb u ok (album 2). House mourns army chief, others

Members of the House of Representatives have expressed sadness over the death of Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru and his entourage in an air crash in Kaduna. Attahiru, along with six senior officers and four crew members were onboard Nigerian Air Force Kingair 350 from Abuja to Kaduna, ahead of today’s passing out parade of soldiers from the Nigerian Army Depot in Zaria, when the crash happened amid torrential rainfall, on Friday evening. The Speaker of the House, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, in a statement issued on Saturday described as shocking and sad the death Attahiru and others involved in the plane crash. Nigeria’s chief of army staff dies in plane crash

General Ibrahim Attahiru, the Chief of Army Staff, has died in a plane crash. Details of the incident are still sketchy but a military source told newsmen that it happened in Kaduna on Friday. In a statement, the Nigerian Air Force confirmed that there was an accident involving one of its aircraft in Kaduna but did not go into details. “An air crash involving a @NigAirForce aircraft occurred this evening near the Kaduna International Airport. The immediate cause of the crash is still being ascertained. More details to follow soon,” read the statement signed by Edward Gabkwet, the force’s Director of Public Relations and Information. Rivers government seeks relocation of NIMASA cabotage department

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has appealed to the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) to return its Cabotage Services Department to Port Harcourt. Wike made the appeal when the Director-General of NIMASA, Dr. Bashir Jamoh, visited him in Port Harcourt, recently. Wike said operations of the Cabotage Services Department of NIMASA used to be in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, but it was relocated to Lagos. The governor said in spite of his administration’s procurement of gunboats for security agencies, especially the Police and Navy to assist in the fight against piracy and ensure safety on the waterways for NIMASA’s businesses to thrive, the state did not get anything in return. GSAC: 500 Nigerian nationals languishing in Togolese prisons

The Global Society for Anti-Corruption (GSAC) yesterday alerted that no fewer than 500 Nigerian citizens were languishing in various prisons in Togo. Consequently, it has called on the federal government to intervene on behalf her citizens and ensure that they get justice. GSAC’s President, Mr Frankline Ezeona who briefed newsmen in Enugu on a recent fact-finding visit his organisation made to Togolese prisons, disclosed that a good number of the Nigerians in the said Togo prisons had spent more than 10 years awaiting trial. MitiS Announces Massive North American Album Tour

Last month MitiS returned to Ophelia Records with his sophomore album Lost. The LP has received praise from fans and critics alike, as it reflects the next chapter of his impressive career. No album is complete without a tour, however. MitiS is scheduled to hit the road on August 19th for his Lost album tour, with his first stop in Miami, Florida. He’ll then be making stops all over North America including dates in Vancouver, New York, Michigan, Portland, Seattle, and more. VP Osinbajo to represent Nigeria at Ugandan presidential inauguration

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will represent Nigeria at the sixth inauguration of President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda. Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Office of the Vice President, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja. Osinbajo will be joining several other heads of state and government at the swearing-in ceremony scheduled for May 12, at Kololo Independence Grounds in Kampala, Uganda. Niger governor seeks federal government collaboration in tackling insecurity

Gov. Abubakar Bello of Niger has said that collaboration between the federal and state governments is required to tackle the security challenges facing the state. Bello stated this on Wednesday in Minna, when he received the General Commanding Officer (GOC), 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, Kaduna. The governor, however, said that security was being beefed up in the state, adding that the GOC’s visit was an indication that the challenges in the state would soon come to an end. “I am glad he (GOC) visited, we discussed the security situation.
