Peacemaker Renewed for Season 2 by HBO Max

James Gunn’s first TV project Peacemaker has done a stellar job humanizing the titular antihero, and HBO Max has rewarded his efforts by bringing The Suicide Squad spinoff back for Season 2. The announcement comes just ahead of the first season finale, which premieres on Thursday, February 17th. Starring John Cena as Peacemaker, the inaugural season picks up right where The Suicide Squad left off, integrating the loner vigilante (and his pet eagle Eagly) into a new task force up against a bizarre global threat. Combining dark humor and comic violence with touching moments when Peacemaker and other characters come to life-changing revelations, it’s been a joy to see Cena exhibit his full range alongside a talented cast including Chukwudi Iwuji, Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer...

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 4 Review: More Mediocre Than Magical

The Pitch: When we last saw the titular character in Amy Sherman-Palladino’s Amazon Prime comedy, things were looking quite bad for her. Despite killing at The Apollo, Miriam “Midge” Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan) has been fired from Shy Baldwin’s tour, thanks to some jokes that alluded a bit too closely to his status as a closeted gay man. This left her abandoned on the tarmac with Susie (Alex Borstein), who, unbeknownst to Midge, had lost all of Midge’s hard-earned money thanks to a combination of gambling problems and general managerial irresponsibility. Meet Me on the West Side: Season 4 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel picks up shortly after these events in a familiar setting — Midge, onstage, cigarette in hand, seemingly killing at a club in The Village. The cliffhanger of Season 3 seemed to ...

Space Force Season 2 Review: A Big Improvement That Leaves You Wanting More

The Pitch: The original pitch was simple: In 2019, the 45th President of the United States announced a plan for a Space Force branch of the U.S. military. To Steve Carell and Greg Daniels (who previously worked together on The Office), that sounded pretty ridiculous, so they successfully pitched Netflix on a satirical version of what such a “space force” would look like, with Carell as the general in charge. Unfortunately, Season 1 of Netflix’s Space Force… didn’t quite work. Despite the assembly of a surprise-packed ensemble, including awkward comedy G.O.A.T. Carell, human live wire Ben Schwartz, secret MVP Tawny Newsome, and wild card John Malkovich, there was something just off in how the writing and acting and directing jelled together — and to the credit of Carell and Daniels, they no...

Fox to Develop Berkeley Breathed’s Bloom County Comic Strip into Animated Series

Animated political satire never goes out of style, which is why Fox is resurrecting Berkeley Breathed’s 1980s comic strip Bloom County for a new series. In development at FOX Entertainment, Bento Box Entertainment, Miramax, Spyglass Media Group, and Project X Entertainment, Bloom County will be co-written and executive-produced by Breathed himself. According to a press release, the series “centers on a collapsed lawyer, a lobotomized cat, and a penguin in briefs and fruit headwear living in the world’s last boarding house in the world’s most forgotten place deep in the dandelion wilds of FlyWayWayOver country. To wit, today’s America at a glance.” Breathed got his start in cartoons at The University of Texas at Austin, where his comic strip The Academia Waltz appeared in student newsp...

Will Farrah Be A Part Of The Teen Mom: Family Reunion?

Farrah and Maci have not spoken in “over four years” (according to the former), but that will change when they have a mini family reunion. “I’m meeting with Farrah because I want her to know that if she wants to be a part of this reunion, there’s a spot for her,” the mother of three states in a confessional interview in the Teen Mom: Family Reunion sneak peek above. “She deserves the opportunity just like everyone else.” Maci asks Farrah how she is feeling, and Sophia’s mom replies that she is “doing good.” “I’ve been working on a lot of anxiety and tension in the body lately,” Farrah continues. “It’s been a rough morning in that sense, if I’m being honest.” Maci tells Farrah that sh...

Scrubs, Schitt’s Creek and More TV Casts That Reunited in 2022 Super Bowl Ads: Watch

Despite an onslaught of cryptocurrency content, most of this year’s Super Bowl advertisements understood the assignment, shelling out the big bucks in order to turn up the star power at every possible opportunity. While many Game Day ads boasted blockbuster celebrity pairings (yes, that was Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus joining forces for T-Mobile, and Zendaya and André 3000 finding some time to sell seashells for Squarespace), mini-reunions of classic TV show casts also dominated the advertising airwaves of Super Bowl LVI on Sunday (February 14th). From Scrubs to The Sopranos, we’ve got them all rounded up here in case you unglued yourself from the living room couch in order to grab more snacks. Check out the nostalgia-inducing ads you may have missed below. Scrubs: Zach Braff and Donald F...

Kelly Clarkson and Snoop Dogg Announce Eurovision-Inspired American Song Contest

The Super Bowl gave way to America’s next big game with a primetime commercial spot starring Kelly Clarkson and Snoop Dogg announcing American Song Contest, the United States-based rendition of the long-running Eurovision Song Contest. The series gains some immediate legitimacy from its hosts Clarkson, the original American Idol and current coach on The Voice, and Snoop, who was probably, ahem, getting ready for the Super Bowl Halftime Show when the announcement aired. In the commercial, the pair appear together on a digital map of the country as it gets populated by local musicians. They jointly declare, “America’s next great hit could come from your hometown.” Watch it below. The latest import from the international reality talent competition pipeline follows the stru...
