Starz Greenlights Party Down Revival with Original Cast

It’s time to re-knot up those pink bowties, because a Party Down revival has been greenlit by Starz with a six-episode order. Co-creator Rob Thomas (who previously resuscitated Veronica Mars) is bringing back the original producing team, which included fellow co-creators John Enbom, Paul Rudd, and Dan Etheridge. Enbom will also return as showrunner, corralling the now-all-star cast of Ken Marino, Adam Scott, Jane Lynch, Martin Starr, Ryan Hansen, and Megan Mullally. However, original series regular Lizzy Caplan will not be returning; Deadline reports that she encountered scheduling conflicts for the FX series Fleishman Is in Trouble, and she recently signed on to a reboot of Fatal Attraction. “At the end of 2019, the Party Down cast and producers were all reun...

Challenge Chums: Which All Stars Alliances Could Dominate Season 2?

You may never get a second chance to make a first impression, but as Jodi and Derrick proved on the premiere of The Challenge: All Stars Season 2, the point is moot if your first impression was already great. Now, with the two Road Rules: X-Treme champions in control of the game, the question is: Will their 17-year-long alliance be too tough to beat, or could another years-old pact eventually take hold of the game? On the premiere of All Stars, new and returning players — some of whom hadn’t seen each other in nearly 20 years — met once again in hopes of following in Season 1 victor Yes’s footsteps. There were certainly some unexpected updates (Steve is a successful hand model! Cohutta lives on a sheep farm! Melinda calls her son a “21-month-year-old” which is not a metric!), but one const...

How The Real World: Los Angeles Cast Impacted Reality Television

Beth Anthony, Beth Stolarczyk, David Edwards, Glen Naessens, Irene Berrera-Kearns, Jon Brennan and Tami Roman are reality TV pioneers: The diverse group had their “lives taped” as they participated in the second season of The Real World on MTV. Before they return homecoming to their original crib in Los Angeles, the cast is reflecting on being a part of the pop culture phenomenon back in 1993. n “To be a pioneer in reality TV, it actually feels really good,” Jon reflects in the video above. “We really set something into motion that was big and is lasting.” And even though Irene recognizes her place in the small-screen pantheon, she draws the line at watching one type of reality TV programming. “If it has to deal with people living in a house, I don...

Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop Hits More Than a Few False Notes: Review

3,2,1, Let’s Jam: In a far-flung future where the solar system has been colonized and Earth has become uninhabitable, civilization has spread out into a new Wild West filled with grifters, terrorists, con men, and criminal syndicates. Among the rabble, there are a few intrepid souls who set out to collect the most dangerous bounties in the system… or at least scrounge up enough cash to keep their ship running. You might call them bounty hunters; they prefer cowboys. But the more they try to run from their shadowy pasts, the more those past...

Waylon Smithers Will Finally Find True Love in Upcoming Episode of The Simpsons

After officially coming out in the 2016 episode “The Burns Cage,” The Simpsons character Waylon Smithers Jr. is set to finally find true love in the upcoming “Portrait of a Lackey on Fire.” The new episode drops November 21st, and co-stars Victor Garber as Smithers’ amorous partner, a fashion designer named Michael De Graaf. Although Smithers spent several years in the closet, this isn’t his first dalliance. He dated Julio in the 2016 episode “The Burns Cage,” and it was suggested that he had a relationship with John in 1997’s “Homer’s Phobia.” But John seemingly didn’t treat Smithers very well, and his relationship with Julio was interrupted by his lingering feelings for Mr. Burns. “Portrait of a Lackey on Fire” promises real happiness. “Smithers finds true love with a famous fa...

Cold Wars: These Are The Chilliest Challenge Conflicts Ever

Do away with the notion that Challenge warfare has to center on battle cries like “I will smash his head and eat it!” Sometimes, the most intense combat plays out quietly and behind closed doors, and in the case of Tori and Amanda on Spies, Lies and Allies, there’s a particularly cold war a-brewing. But is it the chilliest ever? On the show’s latest episode, and amid a season with plenty more explicit clashing, Amanda and Tori continued to duel almost peacefully and typically while the other was not around. Amanda told good pal Josh that she was sick of Tori’s reliance on grit and grit alone to advance in the game, while Tori lit up Amanda in confessionals for playing an exclusively political game with little physicality to back it up. “Amanda is a different style of competitor than me. Le...

Christopher Walken Intentionally Destroyed a Banksy Painting

Christopher Walken recently got to do something virtually unthinkable: destroy a Banksy painting. On purpose. The moment occurred as the actor was filming the season finale of the BBC One series The Outlaws, which aired Wednesday (November 10th). In the scene, Walken’s character — Frank — covers up the Banksy original featuring the anonymous artist’s signature rat while doing community service. “We can confirm that the artwork at the end of The Outlaws was an original Banksy, and that Christopher Walken painted over that artwork during the filming of this scene, ultimately destroying it,” a BBC spokesperson said in a statement after the episode aired. All Stars Sneak Peek: Tina Wonders If She’s ‘Still Got It’ On The Challenge

Unique one-liners on The Challenge are back, courtesy of Tina Barta. “Don’t call it a comeback,” the Road Rules veteran states in the sneak peek above from the Season 2 premiere. Welcome home, Tina!! Viewers have not seen the Bad Ass (Inferno 2 reference) since she was a “Heavy Hitter” on Cutthroat, and some things are a bit different. But her trademark humor remains perfectly intact. “My life is fabulous!” she reveals. “I have a husband, no kids. I don’t work. I have a pool in the backyard. Life is really good. I just want to see if I still got it; I just want to see if Tina’s still there.” Well, one thing is for sure: Kitchenware is not safe… So…when it comes to Tina’s fellow competitors, how would return...

John Cleese Blasts “Woke Rules” at Cambridge After Speaker Banned for Hitler Impression

John Cleese has pulled out of a planned appearance at Cambridge University as a show of solidarity with Andrew Graham-Dixon, who was permanently blacklisted after giving a speech in which he impersonated Adolf Hitler. “I apologise to anyone at Cambridge who was hoping to talk with me,” Cleese wrote on Twitter, “but perhaps some of you can find a venue where woke rules do not apply.” Graham-Dixon is an art historian and television presenter, and on November 9th he participated in a debate at the Cambridge Union with the prompt, “This house believes there is no such thing as good taste.” Via the Campaign Against Antisemitism, Graham-Dixon spoke in opposition of that motion. As part of his argument that good taste exists, he launched into a German accent for what Union President Keir Bradwell...

‘It Never Gets Easier’: Should Teen Mom OG‘s Tyler Show His Emotions In Front Of Carly?

Catelynn and Tyler welcomed Carly more than 12 years ago when they were teenagers on 16 and Pregnant. After more than two years without a visit, the longtime couple saw their not-so-little girl, as well as her parents Brandon and Teresa (cameras have not been permitted inside the gatherings since Carly turned four). “At dinner, she had her hair braided and it was all back,” Tyler reflected to Cate and his mom Kim after seeing the “so tall” almost-teenager that same day. “It’s just weird. She had on a nice little outfit. Like a little lady.” The goodbye with Carly and her family was not filmed, but the MTV crew was present when Tyler and Cate shared an emotional farewell with their longtime adoption counselor Dawn. “She adores you guys so much...
