“Netflix, I choose you!” As Variety reports, The Pokémon Company has struck a deal with Netflix to develop a new live-action series along the lines of… gulp… Pokémon Detective Pikachu. The show is in the early stages of development. While few details are known, this adaptation of the beloved video game/card game/anime empire will be helmed by Joe Henderson, who is currently the co-showrunner of the Netflix series Lucifer. Both Netflix and Pokémon have somewhat dubious histories of live-action adaptations. Pokémon Detective Pikachu had enough manic energy to satisfy kids in the audience, but the plot pacing could be frustrating for adults, and it failed to measure up to the likes of Pixar and Marvel in appealing to all ages. Dexter returns! The beloved, revived crime drama unleashed its first trailer on audiences during the final day of San Diego Comic-Con 2021. Billed as Dexter: New Blood and set 10 years after the events of the original series, the show’s ninth season kicks off with Michael C. Hall’s titular vigilante serial killer and his Dark Passenger hiding out in a small, snow-laden town under the alias of Jim Lindsay. The clip opens with Dexter sitting in his therapist’s office. “I’ve always had my demons, and so I went away,” he admits to his counselor, as scenes flash by showing his quiet life in the Pacific Northwest. (He works as a sales associate at a local fish and game store! He’s dating a cop!) “But sometimes, I have an urge too strong to ignore,” he continues. “Every day I walk through this wo...
It’s a bird, it’s a plane…it’s Michael B. Jordan! According to a new report, the actor is planning to develop his own Superman project with HBO Max. Collider reported the news earlier on Friday that Jordan’s project will be separate from the upcoming Superman movie starring a Black Clark Kent, which is being executive produced by J.J. Abrams. While Jordan was rumored to be putting on Superman’s cape for that movie — the script for which is being penned by Ta-Nehesi Coates — the Creed actor brushed off the speculation at the time, saying, “I’m flattered that people have me in that conversation. It’s definitely a compliment, but I’m just watching on this one.” Instead, his new rendition with the streamer will reportedly focus on the Val-Zod version of the character in a limited series format...

Sean Penn is demanding that every cast and crew member for the Starz series Gaslit be vaccinated against COVID-19. Until that happens, according to reports in Deadline and Variety, the actor refuses to return to work. Gaslit explores the Nixon Watergate scandal through the characters of Attorney General John Mitchell (Penn) and his wife, Martha (Julia Roberts). Penn has a few more weeks of filming to go before he wraps, and he recently left to attend Cannes for the premiere of his new film Flag Day. Now, he may not come back. Currently, the studio NBCUniversal requires mandatory inoculation in “Zone A” cast and crew members: people who work in close proximity to the set. Kelsey and her boyfriend Max are going strong, and the two just marked a big relationship step during tonight’s Siesta Key episode. After an entire year of long-distance love, Max made the move to the Key and became Florida official. While this wasn’t Kelsey’s first out-of-state dating rodeo (y’all may recall Jacob from Arizona circa Season 2), tonight’s episode saw her elated to be reunited with her beau, who’ll be crashing at her new condo for a few weeks while he gets settled in Sarasota. During a convo with Madisson, Kelsey revealed that Max was initially all about setting up house together — but she wasn’t quite ready. “He obviously was like, ‘I’ll move in, let’s save money!’ But I think it’ll be g...
Leah’s Teen Mom 2 season began with the mother of three telling her twins about the importance of embracing the “fun stuff” that comes with becoming a young woman (i.e. menstrual cycles and breast self-exams). And during the season finale, the mother of three had some “good news” to share regarding her own health. “I didn’t tell you guys, but I had another ultrasound,” Leah told her daughters about the benign lump she had detected in her breast. “And although the tumor had grown, it wasn’t necessarily concerning. So I don’t have to have the surgery.” Ali, Aleeah and Adalynn were happy for their mother and reacted with a unanimous “yay!” Leah added that, “down the road,” she might get a second op...

Ashley was “happy to be done” with her associate’s degree; to celebrate the accomplishment, Holly’s mom hosted a graduation bash with her loved ones during tonight’s Teen Mom 2 season finale. But the party, to mark Ashley’s “monumental achievement,” did not end after cameras wrapped for the evening. “The MTV crew left the party at 9pm,” a message read as the episode was ending. “Later that night, police received a call that gun shots were fired. No injuries were reported. Bar was arrested for willful discharge of a firearm in a negligent manner.” But before this latest legal setback, Bar gave Ashley an update on his pending DUI case. “I’ve been speaking to my lawyer. I have to serve 15 days in county [jail]...
