John Lithgow Joins Cast of Showtime’s Dexter Revival
John Lithgow is reprising his role as the “Trinity Killer” for the upcoming revival of Dexter, according to Deadline. The return is described as “a short but decisive appearance,” with Deadline reporting the writers have “concocted a pathway for the Trinity Killer to come back that works within the larger Dexter narrative.” As such, Lithgow is only expected to film on the Los Angeles set for “a day or so.” In 2010, the now-75-year-old actor won an Emmy Award for his portrayal of Arthur Mitchell during Season 4 of the original series. Mitchell was a source of particular interest for Michael C. Hall’s titular character, appearing to show a path to balancing a family with a secret life as a serial killer. The late Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek was posthumously honored with the award for Outstanding Game Show Host at the 2021 Daytime Emmy Awards on Friday night. It’s called The Rehearsal and it sees Fielder juggling duties as the director, writer, and lead star of the show. Former child actor Drake Bell has pleaded guilty to felony attempted child endangerment and a misdemeanor charge of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles. Bell, former star of Nickelodeon’s Drake and Josh, entered the guilty plea via Zoom in a Cleveland, Ohio court on Wednesday. According to Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office, Bell, 34, engaged in an inappropriate online relationship with an underage girl that, “at times, was sexual in nature.” Prosecutors say the girl, then 15, also attended Bell’s 2017 concert in Cleveland. Now, Pyle’s webcomics-turned-graphic novels are becoming an Apple TV+ show with help from Dan Harmon. According to Deadline, Pyle and Harmon will executive produce the new show together. When issuing a straight-to-series order for Strange Planet, the streaming giant also brought on Joe Pera Talks with You and Over the Garden Wall screenwriter Amalia Levari as a showrunner.
