Apple Launches Free, 24-Hour Music Video Channel

Remember the days when MTV was the home of music videos? Looking to bring back that kind of programming, Apple has now launched its own free, 24-hour music video channel. Simply called Apple Music TV, the nonstop livestream promises “exclusive new music videos and premiers, special curated music video blocks, and live shows and events as well as chart countdowns and guests,” according to a statement via Variety. One such countdown — the Top 100 most-streamed songs on Apple Music — was the focus of today’s kick-off event. During its inaugural week, Apple Music TV will also celebrate Bruce Springsteen and his new album, Letter to You, with “an all day Bruce takeover” on Thursday, October 22nd. In addition to popular music videos from The Boss, the channel will air a special livestream f...

Home Improvement Star Zachery Ty Bryan Arrested for Allegedly Strangling Girlfriend

All of those sentimental life lessons from Home Improvement clearly went over the head of star Zachery Ty Bryan. As TMZ reports, the 39-year-old was arrested in Eugene, Oregon on Friday night for allegedly strangling his girlfriend. According to a police report, neighbors called Eugene police after they heard Bryan and his girlfriend fighting in their apartment complex. Upon arrival, they found Bryan sitting outside his apartment with his girlfriend at a nearby friend’s residence. Bryan’s girlfriend told Eugene PD that he had put his arms around her throat and squeezed. She also reported that Bryan tried to take her phone away after trying to call the cops and before she ultimately escape to safety. Eugene PD booked Bryan on three charges: strangulation, fourth-degree assault, and interfer...

Should SNL Replace Jim Carrey as Joe Biden?

What was big, exciting entertainment news just a month or so ago has already become routine tedium: Jim Carrey played presidential candidate Joe Biden on Saturday Night Live. For the third week in a row, the blockbuster comic returned to Studio 8H, where Issa-Rae hosted the festivities. Three sketches into his run, however, and it’s hard to find anyone who appears to be enjoying his antics. (Then again, social media presents a comically skewed demographic of people who more or less despise Saturday Night Live, but feel compelled to provide running commentary anyway. Come to think of it, that’s likely how a lot of SNL writers probably feel about the presidential election.) This week’s endless cold open–under 15 minutes, but, as with last week’s, feeling closer to a full hour–toggled between...

Stephen King Confirms Season 2 of HBO’s The Outsider

HBO has been tight-lipped about whether their recent adaptation of Stephen King’s The Outsider would be coming back for a Season 2. Well, the loquacious King shares no such compunctions, and in a recent interview with EW he confirmed that “there’s going to be a second season of The Outsider as soon as they can get the production going.” The news came in a conversation about King’s beloved character Holly Gibney. She leads one of the novellas that make up the new collection If It Bleeds, and plays a big part in both The Outsider as well as the TV adaptation of Mr. Mercedes, which just migrated from the defunct Audience Network to Peacock. King was excited about Holly’s arc on The Outsider, though he didn’t think it would lead into the e...

Trent Reznor Will Break Down NIN’s “Hurt” on Upcoming Episode of Netflix’s Song Exploder

The evolution of Nine Inch Nails’ 1994 song “Hurt” could warrant an entire oral history. As a slow-burning album closer that later became a staple of Johnny Cash’s repertoire, the song is a piece of music history with plenty of backstory — and now, Trent Reznor will finally explain how “Hurt” came to be for an upcoming episode of Song Exploder, the hit podcast-turned-TV series on Netflix. Earlier today, Netflix announced that Season 2 of Song Exploder will premiere worldwide on December 15th. The Killers, Dua Lipa, and Natalia Lafourcade are a few of the artists scheduled to appear in the next volume. It’s the inclusion of Reznor discussing “Hurt”, though, that feels like the biggest score of all for both fans and Hrishikesh Hirway, the host and executive producer of the show. “I first int...

Dexter Limited Series Revival Coming to Showtime

Halloween is the one time of year everyone wears masks, not just Dexter Morgan. That makes this the perfect time of year to announce the character’s return, and indeed a limited series revival of Dexter has been set at Showtime. The Hollywood Reporter has it that the premium cable network has ordered 10 new Dexter episodes — seven years after the original run ended. Michael C. Hall is set to return as the title character alongside original showrunner Clyde Phillips. Phillips ran the show and executive produced it during its first four seasons from 2006 through 2009 — widely considered to be the series’ peak. Dexter was nominated for Best Drama Series thrice during his tenure. Hall, meanwhile, was nominated for Best Leading Actor five times straight and won a Golden Globe in 2010 for h...

‘I’ve Never Cried That Loud’: Ali Reveals A Heartbreaking Teen Mom 2 Injury

Ali went to her semi-annual muscular dystrophy-related doctor’s visit earlier this season on Teen Mom 2, and Dr. Tsao (a neuromuscular specialist who viewers have seen through the years) complimented Leah’s daughter on her strength. However, he remarked that she had “weakness in the upper legs.” And during tonight’s episode, Dr. Tsao’s feedback was on full display when the Simms twin hurt her foot after a fall while she was at her dad Corey’s house. Fast-forward a week later, and Ali was still in pain. “She didn’t say nothing about it all weekend,” Corey told Leah over the phone. “And then yesterday evening, like all of a sudden, she said it hurt.” Leah explained to her sister Victoria, who was in labor and about to we...

Meet The Fresh-Faced Cast Of Netflix’s Grim Teen Drama Grand Army

How did you begin acting? I started really young, acting in church plays. Every year for Christmas, the church youth would make a play, and I would perform in it. In middle school, I was really interested in taking acting classes, but I couldn’t afford to, so I waited until high school and joined a film and theater program that got defunded a few weeks after I joined. After that, I joined another nonprofit theater program in my school called Opening Act. I was performing off-broadway, creating plays at the end of every semester, and that’s how I met Katie [Cappiello], through one of the Opening Act students. Since then, I’ve been acting, doing theater, and touring plays around America for almost eight years. Now, I’m here. What was your first-ever audition like? My first big audition was f...

The Simpsons Lists 50 Terrifying Reasons To Vote Against Trump: Watch

It’s hard to imagine how a Treehouse of Horror edition from this year could muster up anything scarier than what’s going on outside of Springfield. Appropriately, the next episode of The Simpsons doesn’t even bother trying to toe that line with comedic subtlety. In an exclusive Variety preview clip from the 31st (!) installment of the annual Halloween-themed Simpsons episode, Homer is presented with a frightening list of 50 reasons why Trump needs to be voted out on November 3rd. After considering writing in Judge Judy, Lisa comes to the rescue and reminds her father of all the insane bullshit that our president has served over the last four years. A literal scrolling list of political atrocities (kids in cages, gutting the E.P.A.) and cringe-worthy moments (serving McDonald’s to the ...
