HBO Max is heading to Bel-Air for Thanksgiving. As previously reported, Will Smith and the Banks are reuniting for The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air Reunion Special. Unlike their previous get-together over Zoom earlier this year, the family is actually meeting on the set of their iconic Bel-Air home. What’s more, the streaming giant will host the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame 2020 Inductions, which includes Depeche Mode, The Doobie Brothers, Whitney Houston, Nine Inch Nails, The Notorious B.I.G., and T-Rex. Other exclusive originals this month include the second season of His Dark Materials, the series premiere of Industry, and the original comedy Superintelligence starring Melissa McCarthy, Bobby Cannavale, and James Corden. Amazon Prime Video has unveiled its additions for November. The big event of the month is Steve McQueen’s Small Axe anthology film series, which consists of five films that will drop every week beginning November 15th. Already we’ve seen three of the five: Mangrove, Lovers Rock, and Red, White, and Blue. Outside of that, there’s not much but a handful of classics being dropped into the Bezos bunch. 28 Days Later is a nice go-to during the pandemic, Romancing the Stone and Jewel of the Nile are a great Douglas double feature, and, hey, Silverado. Those in need of a healthy holiday binge watch can find solace in Community and Scrubs. Though, if you really wanna be on brand for the holidays, you can cue up Martin Scorsese’s The Last Waltz, which actually was filmed on Thanksgiving. Editors...
Disney+ is looking to the stars across November. Whether they’re leaving our atmosphere with continuing episodes of The Right Stuff or absconding to a galaxy far, far away with The Mandalorian, The Mouse House clearly has no intentions of spending time in reality here on Earth. No kidding! Because if they’re not blasting off, they’re celebrating the art of imagination with docuseries such as Inside Pixar and Marvel’s 616 or putting up the holiday lights with the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special. There are no shortage of escapes here. Nostalgics can also find solace in revisiting classics such as Disney’s A Christmas Carol and Mr. Magoo. Sadly, there isn’t much else being added to the back catalogue — perhaps they’re saving some titles for Christmas come December? We’ll see. Editors’ Pi...
Hulu is inviting James Bond to Thanksgiving dinner, so don’t forget the martinis. Only days after the world lost the Bond that started it all — the great and legendary Sir Sean Connery — the streaming tentpole is keeping America’s November tradition alive by adding the majority of 007’s missions to their catalogue. This includes From Russia with Love (1964), Thunderball (1965), You Only Live Twice (1967), On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969), Diamonds Are Forever (1971), Live and Let Die (1973), The Man with the Golden Gun (1974), Moonraker (1979), For Your Eyes Only (1981), Octopussy (1983), A View to a Kill (1985), The Living Daylights (1987), License to Kill (1989), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), and The World is Not Enough (1999). Strangely enough, Hulu has also secured the first t...

The Pitch: When we last left Mando (Pedro Pascal), he’d just been tasked with a holy Mandalorian mission to track down Baby Yoda The Child’s species and return him to them — a mighty feat given that no one’s ever seen anything like him. Still, even though he’s left the bounty hunting life behind (for now), his quest will still take him to the farthest corners of the galaxy, righting wrongs along the way. While Season 2 will surely have more answers to the show’s broader, arc-based questions, the series premiere, “The Marshal”, kicks off Disney+’s hit with a no-frills space Western of the classic mold. Seeking a Mandalorian rumored to be on Tatooine (the identity of whom any self-respecting Star Wars fan can piece together), Mando heads to a remote mining settlement on the desert plane...
John Mulaney was a writer on Saturday Night Live for four seasons. It was a respectable, successful stint, but hardly era-defining. Plenty of SNL scribes have dug in for longer, more influential, runs behind the scenes, and unlike, say, Adam McKay, Tina Fey, or Colin Jost, Mulaney never served as head writer. He was the rare writer who made a handful of on-camera showcase appearances, but his Weekend Update commentaries didn’t garner much attention at the time. Among fans, he was better-known for co-creating Update mainstay character Stefon with beloved cast member Bill Hader. So how is it, exactly, that Mulaney, who makes his living primarily as a stand-up comic, has become not just a go-to SNL host but a reliable highlight for four seasons running? Mulaney’s hosting of this week’s Hallow...
Dave Chappelle famously hosted Saturday Night Live’s first episode following Donald Trump’s unexpected victory in 2016. Now, the veteran comedian is set to return to Studio 8H for SNL’s first episode following the 2020 election. The 2016 episode marked Chappelle’s first time hosting SNL, and featured several sketches addressing the results of the election. Most notably, Chappelle and Chris Rock appeared in a skit spoofing an election party attended by horrified liberals. The episode earned Chappelle an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series. Chappelle’s return to SNL follows news that both Netflix and HBO Max acquired non-exclusive streaming rights to Chappelle’s Show and will begin streaming episodes today, November 1st. Below, revisit the aforementioned sketc...

Netflix has acquired the streaming rights to Dave Chappelle’s brilliant early aughts sketch comedy series Chappelle’s Show. The show’s full three-season, 28-episode run will be available on the streaming platform beginning November 1st. Chappelle’s Show famously aired for three seasons between 2003 and 2006 on Comedy Central, and is widely considered to be one of the best comedies of its time. However, mid-way through the show’s third season, Chappelle abruptly walked away. He later stated that he was “burned out” from the intensive shooting schedule, and also felt the show’s popularity took away from his standup career (he could only take hearing an audience member yell “I’m Rick James, bitch!” so many times.) He then embarked on a prolonged hiatus, during which he only gav...
Several of Comedy Central’s premiere titles — including Chappelle’s Show, Nathan For You, Reno 911!, and Key & Peele — are coming to HBO Max starting November 1st. These series will be streaming on WarnerMedia’s premium streaming services as part of an ongoing licensing deal forged with Comedy Central’s parent company ViacomCBS. The deal also gives HBO Max access to the entire South Park library as well as Inside Amy Schumer. It’s worth noting that all of these titles will be non-exclusive to HBO Max, which explains why Chappelle’s Show is also coming to Netflix starting November 1st. These titles are also available on ViacomCBS’s own streaming platform, CBS All Access, which will be rebranded as Paramount+ in 2021. According to The Hollywood Reporter, at some point ViacomCBS inte...
Tiny Toons Looniversity, image courtesy of Warner Bros. Animation The Tiny Toons are set to invade your TV once again. The beloved Looney Tunes spin-off has been revived with a two-season, straight-to-series order of Tiny Toons Looniversity. The new cartoon is set to air on both Cartoon Network and HBO Max, though exactly how WarnerMedia plans to roll out the episodes across the platforms isn’t yet clear. What is known, however, is that Steven Spielberg is back to produce through his Amblin Television. Erin Gibson of the Throwing Shade podcast is on as showrunner, in addition to co-executive producing with Nat Cash (Adventure Time). Amblin’s Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank are also on as executive producers. As the name implies, the show will be set in Acme Looniveristy, the institution whe...
