Netflix will begin cracking down on password sharing in the US starting in early 2023, reports The Wall Street Journal. This summer, the streaming platform tested out an “extra home” fee in Argentina, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras after first rolling it out in Chile, Costa Rica, and Peru. Based on those tests, the new monthly fee is expected to cost $3 per extra home in the US. Netflix is well aware of how the crackdown will alienate customers. “Make no mistake, I don’t think consumers are going to love it right out of the gate,” Co-CEO Ted Sarandos told investors in early December. The Pitch: Owen Hendricks (Noah Centineo) is a fresh-faced, 24-year-old lawyer at the CIA’s Office of the General Counsel, and though he’s only been there for a couple of weeks, he finds himself way in over his head, beginning with an investigation into an already chaotic “graymail” attempt on the CIA. by Maxine Meladze (Laura Haddock). A former asset and CIA spy who was stationed in her native Belarus, Meladze is imprisoned in Arizona when Hendricks takes her case, and she threatens to reveal incriminating evidence against the CIA unless Hendricks can get her out of prison and back home to Europe. Vaults and skulls are cracked in the first trailer for the new series Kaleidoscope starring Giancarlo Esposito. The anthology-style mystery premieres New Year’s Day on Netflix. Very loosely based on the real-life story of how $70 billion in bonds went missing in Manhattan during Hurricane Sandy, Kaleidoscope‘s narrative conceit is that viewers will watch the series in different orders, and each episode will fill in separate parts of the mystery. It’s the opposite of the HBO approach; instead of everyone watching on a Sunday night together, the spoiler-averse won’t be able to talk about the series at all until they’ve seen the whole thing. The plot spans 25 years and follows mastermind Leo Pap (Esposito) as he puts together a crew to steal $7 billion from a supposedly un...
Bryce Dallas Howard is set to star in a newly-greenlit Disney+ series based on the beloved Witch Mountain franchise. Its storyline follows “two teens that develop strange abilities and discover their sleepy suburb may not be as idyllic as it seems.” Howard will play the caring and gracious lead character, Audrey, a woman whose husband has died as a result of his relentless schizophrenia. As she reckons with demons of her own, Audrey must reassure her strait-laced daughter Tia (The Watcher‘s Isabel Gravitt) that she isn’t doomed to follow her fath...
