Martin reprised his role as George Banks, this time faced with the daunting proposition of paying for his daughter Annie’s eighth wedding. Helen Slayton-Hughes, whose sly humor enlivened statehouse bureaucracy on Parks and Recreation, is dead at the age of 92. Her family confirmed her death in a Facebook post on December 8th. “Helen passed away last night,” the statement read. “Her pain has ended but her fierce spirit lives on. HBO has today unveiled the first teaser for White House Plumbers, the upcoming political drama miniseries starring Woody Harrelson and Justin Theroux. It’s set to be sworn in to HBO March 2023. Based on the 2007 book Integrity: Good People, Bad Choices, and Life Lessons from the White House by Egil Krogh and Matthew Krogh, White House Plumbers tells the story of E. Howard Hunt (Harrelson) and G. Disney has dipped its toe into ad-supported streaming by launching the new Disney+ Basic plan. Initially only available in the US, the cheaper tier arrives roughly one month after rival streamer Netflix rolled out its own ad-supported subscription. It’s worth noting that Disney+ Basic launches with access to the platform’s entire catalog as opposed to Netflix’s ad-supported plan, which debuted without many popular TV shows and movies. However, the cheaper tier does come with some restrictions: It doesn’t allow downloads or come with extra features like GroupWatch and Dolby Atmos support. Mike Flanagan is adding yet another Stephen King adaptation to his repertoire: Deadline reports that the Doctor Sleep filmmaker is reuniting with his frequent collaborator, producer Trevor Macy, for a new adaptation of the horror novelist’s The Dark Tower series. Flanagan told Deadline that The Dark Tower — which amalgamates elements of classic horror, sci-fi, fantasy, and Western — has been his dream project for quite a while. Anne Heche had traces of cocaine, cannabinoids, and benzodiazepines in her system at the time of her death, but there is no evidence that drugs were a contributing factor. The 53-year-old actress died on August 11th, six days after crashing her car into a Los Angeles home. According a final autopsy report released by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner (via E Online), cannabinoids were detected in Heche’s urine but not in her blood sample, which is “consistent with prior use but not at the time of injury.” The blood sample also showed presence of benzoylecgonine, an inactive metabolite of cocaine.
