Big Red Machine has announced their second album How Long Do You Think It’s Gonna Last, releasing Aug. 27 via 37d03d. The folk-indie band is somewhat of a supergroup formed by Aaron Dessner of The National and Justin Vernon of Bon Iver. The new album was produced by Dessner himself at his Long Pond studio in New York. Today, TURNSTILE surprise-released a new four-track EP titled TURNSTILE LOVE CONNECTION. It includes their recent well-received single “MYSTERY,” the first new music since the band’s 2018 album TIME & SPACE. Along with the EP, the hardcore band released a companion short film of the same name directed by vocalist Brendan Yates that includes all the music from TURNSTILE LOVE CONNECTION. Timothy J. Parker, the Blackalicious rapper known as Gift of Gab, has died. Parker passed away on June 18, 2021 at the age of 50. The acclaimed rapper known for his nonpareil lyrical flow was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2014, undergoing dialysis several times a week even while on tour. On the last night of his Blackalicious tour, January 31, 2020, things were looking bright for Parker when he underwent a kidney transplant procedure successfully. New York post-hardcore outfit Quicksand will release their fourth studio LP Distant Populations on Aug. 13, with a vinyl release arriving on Sept. 24. As most artists are wont to do, they also shared a new track in tandem with the new album’s announcement, called “Missile Command,” along with a music video.
