There are many pieces of wisdom artists acquire from their inception, to their big break and beyond. Navigating the beginnings of a fruitful period in their career, Major Murphy is surely learning that artistry and success requires balance. Major Murphy is the Grand Rapids indie-rock band that’s been turning heads with their recently released LP, Access, which highlights the many lessons humans encounter in the face of dealing with everyday life – specifically, the power of decisions and balancing the weight of their consequences. Los Lobos take on favorites and deep cuts by other Los Angeles luminaries, including War, Buffalo Springfield, Jackson Browne, the Blasters and more. The record is described as “a kaleidoscopic selection of tribute songs from their homeland, ultimately creating a crucial snapshot of L.A.’s musical heritage,” and will arrive July 30 via New West Records. East L.A. garage band Thee Midniters were one of the first Chicano rock groups to score a major hit in the U.S., and Los Lobos’ David...

The material was culled from songs that were initially conceived or crudely recorded during the band’s early years of 1977 through 1980, including ones that were written before singer Milo Aukerman joined the band in 1980. The tracks had ...
NOFX singer Fat Mike is learning that words matter, as the band dropped out of this year’s Las Vegas’ Punk Rock Bowling festival due to fallout from an offensive quip he made onstage in 2018 that referenced the 2017 Vegas shooting at the Route 91 Harvest festival. Joking around with guitarist Eric Martin during the show, Fat Mike said of the victims, “At least they were country fans.” The Descendents will replace NOFX as headliners. The band apologized within a few days, saying, “What we said in Vegas was shitty and insensitive and we are all embarrassed by our remarks. So we decided we will all get together to discuss and write an in depth, sincere, and honest apology because that’s what the people we offended and hurt deserve.” Later, in 2019, they released a song called “Fish ...
