2023: Kogi commissioner tackles Ohanaeze over zoning

Mr Kingsley Fanwo, Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, has reacted to comments by Igbo socio-political group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo on Gov. Yahaya Bello’s assertion about rotation of Nigerian presidency among the different regions of the country. Bello had during a maiden edition of the ‘Governor Yahaya Bello seminar for political and crime correspondents’ in Abuja on Friday, described rotational Presidency as “unconstitutional.” The Governor, who has also declared his intention to run for the presidency in 2023 added that “Nigerians should be allowed to make their choices for the best candidate to emerge for the top post”. Governor Ayade, APC take over PDP secretariat in Cross River

The property located at 142(a) along Muritala Mohammed Highway in Calabar which housed the People’s Democratic Party Secretariat in Cross River was on Saturday morning painted into All Progressive Congress, APC, Colours . Vanguard gathered that the building popularly known as the PDP Secretariat was condoned off by heavily armed security operatives while the workers continued their painting of the building. Imo governor dissolves executive council

The Imo state governor, Hope Uzodinma, on Wednesday dissolved his members of Executive council members. The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, confirmed this to newsmen in Owerri. It was gathered by newsmen that the aim of the dissolution was to regig his administration to further achieve his numerous projects of the 3r, of rehabilitation, reconstruction and recovery. UNICAL security apprehends suspected cultists with hard drugs on campus

Security operatives in the University of Calabar, UNICAL, have arrested two suspected cultists for being in possession of packs of 100mg of tramadol on campus. The suspect, Abarakwe Darlington, 23, and Asuquo Effiong, 25, were arrested following an interrogation from the security operatives after he allegedly beat up an ice cream vendor, George Emmanuel, who had raised an alarm that he sold the suspects ice cream and they refused to pay him. Princess denies authorizing release of CCTV footage showing Baba Ijesha molesting foster child

Nigerian Comedienne Damilola Adekoya, better known as Princess, has denied authorising the release of the CCTV footage showing actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, alias Baba Ijesha, sexually molesting her foster child. The disturbing clip, which was uploaded by an online media platform Sunday morning, has since gone viral on social media. It shows 48-year-old Baba Ijesha hugging, kissing and fondling his 14-year-old victim. Katsina: Gunmen kill six in three communities

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have in the wee hours of Monday killed no fewer than six persons in three communities in Sabuwa Local Government Area of the state. A source in the area told newsmen that the incident happened when the bandits heavily armed were passing by and clashed with the persons along the road. The source said the bandits who shot sporadically leading to the death of the persons. Gunmen abduct NARTO official in Delta

The Police in Delta State on Saturday has confirmed that gunmen had abducted the Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), Warri branch, Mr Duris Orugbo in Sapele local government area of the State. The five governors of the Southeast region, on Sunday, launched Ebubeagu regional security to fight terrorism in the zone. The Chairman Southeast Governors Forum and governor of Ebonyi state, Dave Umahi, disclosed this to newsmen at the Imo government house, along side with other Southeast governors. Soldiers destroy illegal refinery in Rivers

News Agency of Nigeria Soldiers of the 144 Battalion, Asa, Ukwa West council area of Abia State, have reportedly destroyed an illegal oil refinery located in Odogba community in Rivers State. Newsmen gathered that the operation was carried out in conjunction with the operatives of the Department of the State Services ,DSS, on joint patrol within Owaza area,a boundary community between the two States.
