Wife of Akwa Ibom State’s Governor Udom Emmanuel, Dr. Martha Emmanuel, on Wednesday led over 3,000 women from different walks of life on a solidarity march to protest the gruesome murder of Miss Iniubong Umoren. UNICAL security apprehends suspected cultists with hard drugs on campus
Security operatives in the University of Calabar, UNICAL, have arrested two suspected cultists for being in possession of packs of 100mg of tramadol on campus. The suspect, Abarakwe Darlington, 23, and Asuquo Effiong, 25, were arrested following an interrogation from the security operatives after he allegedly beat up an ice cream vendor, George Emmanuel, who had raised an alarm that he sold the suspects ice cream and they refused to pay him. Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, on Tuesday welcomed an ECOWAS Court judgment dismissing a case filed by the trustees of the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) against the Federal Government. Malami, in a statement by Dr Umar Gwandu, his Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations, said the judgment has saved Nigeria from payment of billons of naira for bogus claims. He described the judgment as a clear vindication of the government’s efforts towards respecting human rights and international conventions. The Kwara State Police Command has announced the arrest of one Kehinde Moses, 24, who was allegedly caught with a fresh human head and hands on Monday. The spokesperson of the command, Ajayi Okasanmi, said a team of operatives, on a stop and search duty along Ajase-Ipo road, stopped a commercial bus and in the process of searching a bag, one boy took to his heels while his partner was held. Nigerian Comedienne Damilola Adekoya, better known as Princess, has denied authorising the release of the CCTV footage showing actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, alias Baba Ijesha, sexually molesting her foster child. The disturbing clip, which was uploaded by an online media platform Sunday morning, has since gone viral on social media. The Abia State Police Command has declared manhunt for a fleeing gateman in Umuahia after the lifeless body of a widow was discovered in the pool of her blood. The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 48-year-old Nollywood actor, Olarenwaju James aka Baba Ijesha, for defiling a minor. The case of defilement was reported on 19th April, 2021 by one Princess Adekola Adekanya at Sabo Police Station and transferred to the Gender Unit of the State CID, Panti, Yaba Lagos for proper investigation. Based on preliminary findings, the suspect started sexually assaulting the victim, 14 years ago, when she was 7 years old. The suspect confessed to the crime and was also captured by a CCTV camera in the house of the complainant. A teenager stabbed to death his 21-year-old friend said to have stolen his N55,000 mobile phone, police in Adamawa said. The 18-year-old Abdulkarrm was arrested after he stabbed Ayuba Hassan in Mubi.
