Source: Visual Concepts/ NBA 2K21 When NBA 2K21 on current-gen systems first arrived in September, it was basically received like the no.1 pick in the NBA draft that doesn’t quite live up to expectations. But it’s clear where the development team at Visual Concepts and 2K were putting all the focus… in the next-gen version of the number 1 basketball video game franchise. Please make no mistake, NBA 2K21 Next-Gen is not its predecessor, specifically when it comes to how it looks and plays on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. When Visual Concepts said they rebuilt the game from the ground up, they were not kidding. NBA 2K21 Next-Gen is a completely new experience in many aspects but does incorporate some of the features introduced in NBA 2K21, first released back in Septembe...

As anyone who’s played any of the first seven entries (or other spinoffs) can tell you, there’s nothing quite like the Yakuza series in the video game world. Created by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and published by Sega, Yakuza has long been a staple among Japanese gamers looking for titles a little more mature than something like the Final Fantasy series. But over the last handful of years, the series has finally caught on with a Western audience and taken off around the world. With the brand new Yakuza: Like a Dragon now available on Xbox and PlayStation (although the PS5 version won’t be out for a few more months), players are able to enjoy the series’ unique takes on mature humor, crisp storytelling, and unforgettable moments through a fresh set of eyes — those of new protagonist Ichiban Kasug...

Source: Bernard Smalls / @PhotosByBeanz If you weren’t able to secure an Xbox Series X through either preorder or on launch day, chances are high you won’t be able to get one until sometime in 2021. Next year is when Microsoft is hoping it will be able to meet the high demand for its next-gen console, the Xbox Series X. Speaking at the Jefferies Interactive Entertainment Virtual Conference, Xbox chief financial officer Tim Stuart broke the bad news stating: “I think we’ll continue to see supply shortages as we head into the post-holiday quarter, so Microsoft’s Q3, calendar Q1.” The unfortunate news, while very disheartening for those hoping to cop an Xbox Series X for Christmas, should come as a surprise, being that Xbox chief Phil Spencer hinted at a shortage back in Oct...
Source: WILLIAM WEST / Getty It’s no secret, playing video games does affect your moods. But just how much? An Oxford University study has shared some interesting findings. The Oxford Internet Institute research focused on anonymized data shared by the developers of both Animal Crossing: New Horizon and EA’s Plants vs. Zombies detailing how many hours players logged in each game. The playtime logs were then linked with a survey that asked the 3,274 gamers over 18 who took part in the study about their well-being. The gamers were also asked about how they felt about their experiences playing the game. Prof Andrew Przybylski, who led the study, revealed that he was “surprised” by the results. Per BBC: “If you play Animal Crossing for four hours a day, every sing...
We might be a couple of weeks past Halloween, but that doesn’t mean the spooky season has to end. For those looking to get their scares a little more interactively than watching a horror movie (and with something that doesn’t require getting COVID or needing to leave the house), the latest entry in The Dark Pictures Anthology might just be what you’re looking for. Created by the same folks at Supermassive Games who’ve previously handled terrifying narrative experiences like Until Dawn and Man of Medan, Little Hope offers up another bite-sized adventure for those looking to effectively play out an interactive and immersive horror movie. As per usual, keeping the characters alive (or choosing not to) is entirely up to the player, and the story will continue on regardless of which ones ...

Source: Travis Scott / Sony Travis Scott and his creative, strategic partnership with PlayStation are beginning to take shape, and it’s lit. Scott also blessed two lucky fans wit...
