Carrion Lets Gamers Be the Monster This Halloween, Thanks to Legendary Composer Cris Velasco’s Score

With Halloween around the corner, there’s no shortage of monster-themed video games to dive into for the spookiest time of the year. But the games where you get to actually be the monster are far harder to come by. Sure, the asymmetric survival horror genre has become popular for multiplayer titles — allowing one gamer to play as an array of iconic villains while the others try to survive and escape — but there’s really only one title where you can jump into the shoes of an overpowered rampaging monster and clear out security guards, scientists, and anyone else who stands in your way: Carrion. Of course, a reverse horror game in which the amorphous tentacled murderer is actually the protagonist is going to require a slightly different development and creation approach than most other title...

HHW Gaming Preview: ‘Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla’ Features “Viking Rap Battles,” Raids & Hella Fades

Source: Ubisoft / Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the next installment in Ubisoft’s famed Assassin’s Creed franchise, is about to drop in about under a month. I had a chance to experience a whopping 6 hours of gameplay of the game in an exclusive preview, which left me feeling very optimistic about the forthcoming title. Pre-COVID-19, Ubisoft would have invited us out to get hands-on with the game, but they had to improvise like every other industry and company. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to play due to hardware limitations, but Ubisoft set it up where I had my own personal “tour guide” for 6 hours to show me a sizeable chunk of the game before it launches. In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, we are transported to the lush world of ninth-century England, ditching the bright...

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition Modernizes a Multiplayer Classic

When Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles launched on the GameCube in 2003, it was seen as a pretty significant departure from the main Final Fantasy series. In addition to being a Nintendo exclusive, the title kept little from its brethren aside from the very basics laid out within the Final Fantasy universe (magic, dungeons, etc.) and put an emphasis on multiplayer rather than one person controlling the entire party. It also picked up a number of awards and nominations and launched a handful of sequels and spinoffs while developing a devoted following outside of the more mainstream series. This summer, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition was announced and released, meaning that modern gamers would finally get a taste on the innovation they may have missed 17 years ago. Althou...

HHW Gaming Review: ‘Star Wars: Squadrons’ Delivers The Authentic ‘Star Wars’ Experience Fans Will Love

Source: EA / Motive Studios Does Motive Studios/EA’s Star Wars: Squadrons deliver the authentic experience of hopping into your favorite starfighter from the iconic films? It most certainly does. Like the Star Wars films, there have been a sh*t load of games to accompany them, some good and some outright terrible. Since signing a deal with Disney back in 2013 giving them the exclusive rights to develop games based on George Lucas’ brainchild, EA has done a pretty solid job of taking us to a galaxy far far away via our favorite video game consoles. Most of the games usually deliver a mix of decent lightsaber action, blaster shooting with a pinch of space combat. But when it comes to the ones solely based on reliving the epic battles that we witnessed in the films, it’s been a somewhat okay ...
