St. Vincent Debuts ‘Down’ Video Ahead of Daddy’s Home Release
With “Down,” the latest video from St. Vincent’s upcoming Daddy’s Home album, which has been described as “the grit of 1970s vinyl meets the grain of 1970s celluloid.” Co-directed by St. Vincent (aka Annie Clark) and Bill Benz, the “Down” clip sees St. Vincent careening through a narrative in a seedy hotel, with scenes of reel-to-reel tape machines and ominous shadowy figures in the hallway adding to the mystery. “Down” follows “Pay Your Way In Pain” and “The Melting Of The Sun” — both performed on St. Vincent’s recent return to Saturday Night Live — as the final song to be released ahead of Daddy’s Home’s arrival. Tom Petty’s 1992 “life on the road” tune “Drivin’ Down to Georgia” is now accompanied by a nostalgic new music video. The video takes viewers through a grand time on tour with the Heartbreakers. Directed by Alison Tavel, the archival video footage was shot by band bassist Ron Blair and Martin Atkins, director of the 1999 Heartbreakers concert film High Grade Dogs, Live from The Fillmore. In the clips, we see Petty in his element on various stages. As the band travels from venue to venue, road signs flash by and the band watches the sun set over mountains and canyons, always on the way to another gig. Mexico City rail overpass collapses, killing 15 and injuring 70
Fifteen people were killed and 70 hurt when an overpass carrying Mexico City metro train cars partially collapsed on to a road on Monday night, authorities said. A dramatic video on local channel Milenio TV shows the overpass of the metro’s 12 line collapsing on top of cars on a road below. Videos on television and social media showed emergency medical crews and firefighters combing through the wreckage looking for survivors. Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum said 15 people were killed and that a car was trapped under the rubble. Sheinbaum said on Twitter “unfortunately there are dead and injured people. I am on site supporting the installation of the command center.” The city’s Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection Agency initially put the toll at 13 and 70 people injured. ...

NTDC explores Lagos creative communities on Google Arts & Culture
The Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) has concluded plans to explore Lagos creative communities on Google Arts & Culture in five different ways. The project tagged; ‘Eko for Show’, is in partnership with Google Arts & Culture towards celebrating Lagos and its creative communities. The Director-General of NTDC, Mr Folorunsho Coker, who made the revelation in an interaction with the media, said that Lagos is one of Africa’s fastest-growing cities and that its creative scene is taking the world by storm. Coker noted that with over 25 million people, the city’s creative scene is fueled by a young generation of talented individuals and communities spanning music, art, photography, fashion, theatre, literature and food.
