Roger Waters Pens Open Letter to Putin As His Concerts in Poland Are Canceled

Aspirational expert in foreign affairs Roger Waters has written an open letter to Vladimir Putin in light of Russia’s war on Ukraine. But rather than asking the Russian president to withdraw, the former Pink Floyd member has instead asked Putin to promise that he won’t “overrun the whole of Europe.” “Firstly, would you like to see an end to this war?,” Waters wrote to Putin on Facebook. “If you were to reply and say, ‘Yes please.’ That would immediately make things a lot easier. If you were to come out and say, ‘Also the Russian Federation has no further territorial interest beyond the security of the Russian speaking populations of The Crimea, Donetsk and Lubansk.’ That would help too. I say this because, I know some people who think you want to overrun the whole of Europe, starting with ...

Russia plans to roll out digital ruble across all banks in 2024

The Bank of Russia continues working towards the upcoming adoption of the central bank digital currency (CBDC), planning an official digital ruble rollout in a few years. According to the Bank of Russia’s latest monetary policy update, the authority will begin to connect all banks and credit institutions to the digital ruble platform in 2024. That would be an important year for Russia as the country is expected to hold presidential elections in March 2024 and incumbent President Vladimir Putin has the constitutional right to get re-elected. By that time, the central bank expects to complete “real money” customer-to-customer transaction trials as well as the testing of customer-to-business and business-to-customer settlements. In 2023, the Bank of Russia also intend to conduct beta testing ...

The US Secretly Removed Russian Malware From Computer Networks Around The World

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Sutthichai Supapornpasupad / Getty President Joe Biden is adamant about keeping the United States out of another war, but he isn’t letting Vladimir Putin just do whatever he wants either. Wednesday (Apr.6), the United States announced it secretly removed malware from computer networks worldwide to preempt Russian cyberattacks. At the same time, it put the Russian president on notice. Attorney General Merrick Garland revealed the United States was making the moves publicly after U.S. officials warned there could be attacks on critical American infrastructure by Russia. Per the New York Times: Related Stories The malware enabled the Russians to create “botnets” — networks of private computers that are infected with malicious software and controlled by the G...

Comedian Primetimestein AKA Alex Stein Delivers Harsh Bars For Vladimir Putin At TX Council Meeting

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Mikhail Svetlov / Getty Alex Stein, also known as comedian and social media star Primetimestein, forged a living out of trolling public political gatherings with over-the-top antics. Stein went viral this week after taking the podium at a Texas council meeting to deliver some murderous bars towards Vladimir Putin in defiance of the Russian leader’s attack on Ukraine. During the gathering in Plano, Texas, a modestly dressed Stein approached the podium for his three-minute address to the council, but all hell broke loose once he hit play on a Bluetooth speaker and began spitting hot fiyah in denouncing Putin. Trying to grasp the lyrics isn’t going to be our task today. Just check out the video Stein posted below and witness the lyrical barrage yourself. Ple...

Edgeless Traitor: Candace Owens Shows Alleged Allegiance To Putin With “Russian Lives Matter” Quip

HipHopWired Featured Video CLOSE Source: Jason Davis / Getty Candace Owens, she of deficient edges and general good sense, makes it her business to a disruptive presence in media with hardline ideals and fealty to all things conservative. The wayward pundit used her massive Twitter platform to show support for Vladimir Putin’s assault on Ukraine, willfully tweeting “Russian Lives Matter” at the end of her misguided missive. Back on March 9, Owens shared this doozy of a tweet that we won’t dignify with a direct link but will share in the body of this text: Absolutely appalling the way Russians are being treated in America and abroad. That our leaders and government institutions are allowing for—and at times calling for this discrimination following their global “black lives matter” hysteria...

Terra’s Mirror Protocol MIR rebounds 40% two days after crashing to record low

Mirror Protocol, a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol built on the Terra blockchain, was hit by one of the biggest collapses in financial history this week after Vladimir Putin ordered military strikes against Ukraine. Terra tokens rally Mirror Protocol’s native token, MIR, dropped to $0.993 on Feb. 24, its worst level to date amid a selloff across the broader crypto market. But a sharp rebound ensued, taking the price to as high as $1.41 two days later, up more than 40% when measured from MIR’s record low. MIR/USD four-hour price chart. Source: TradingView Just like the drop, MIR’s upside retracement came in the wake of similar recoveries elsewhere in the crypto market. But interestingly, MIR/USD returns appeared larger than some of the highly valued digital assets, i...

David Lynch’s Weather Report Forecasts “Death and Destruction” for Vladimir Putin

David Lynch included an unusual forecast in his daily weather report on February 25th, predicting that “death and destruction” will come for Russian President Vladimir Putin in the wake of his invasion of Ukraine. Lynch revived the weather reports in 2020 after sporadically posting them to his website in the aughts. He’s known for enthusiastically shaking the camera on Fridays and faithfully reporting the Los Angeles temperatures before signing off with a wave. The February 25th report began like many others, with Lynch revving up like a boxing ring announcer to exclaim, “If you can believe it, it’s a Friday once again!” But his YouTube video soon took an unexpected turn. Russia Will Be Allowed to Compete in Eurovision 2022 Despite Ukraine Invasion

Organizers of the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest say that Russia will still be allowed to compete in the international competition despite the country’s unprovoked invasion of the neighboring nation of Ukraine. Via The Huffington Post, the European Broadcast Union (EBU), which produces the competition, defended Eurovision as a “non-political cultural event.” At the time of this writing, several Ukrainian cities are under attack, and Russian special forces and airborne troops have breached Ukraine’s capitol city of Kyiv. American officials have suggested that President Vladimir Putin may seek to replace the democratically-elected government of Ukraine with a shadow government, or perhaps even annex Ukraine into Russia. Two days ago, Putin said, “Ukraine has never had its own authentic st...

Russia houses $200B worth of crypto, Kremlin estimates

Russian citizens reportedly own 16.5 trillion rubles ($214 billion) worth of cryptocurrencies, according to government estimates. A Bloomberg report noted that Russians own about 12% of the total global crypto holdings. The crypto holdings estimates were calculated by analyzing IP addresses of some of the most significant crypto exchange users in the country along with a few other data points, said two people working with Kremlin. The crypto holdings analysis of Russian citizens is being carried out to get an overview of the crypto market and formulate new regulations. The proposals are yet to be finalized. The estimates are believed to be on the lower side, given crypto regulations are not yet clear in the country and many users prefer to use anonymous tools to carry out their transa...

Kremlin Papers Seemingly Point To Putin Plot To Land Donald Trump In White House

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Bloomberg / Getty The Kremlin, best known as the seat of the governing body of Russia, has famously kept its secrets away from the public with vault-like efficiency. However, leaked papers are suggesting that Russian President Vladimir Putin endorsed a plot to place former President Donald Trump in the White House in 2016. The Guardian reports that the Kremlin documents appear to show that Putin authorized a top-secret spy operation to push Trump ahead in the 2016 presidential election during a closed session of Russian’s national security council. The meeting took place on January 22, 2016, well ahead of the November elections, and was attended by a gathering of Putin’s top intelligence leaders and senior staffers. In the meeting, Trump was referred to a...
