Why International Women’s Day Is Important to Me: Aluna, TOKiMONSTA, More Speak Out

Since 1975, International Women’s Day has been designated as a global day of recognition for women, taking place annually on March 8th. It also coincides with the American Women’s History Month. But historically, the event dates back to the early 1900s, linked to early feminist and workers’ rights movements. From protest movements to a celebration of women’s suffrage, the date has become a focal point and rallying cry for gender equity worldwide.  It’s no secret that we’ve still got a long way to go in ensuring equal opportunities, pay and platforms for women, along with non-binary individuals. This is especially true in the electronic music industry—a 2020 study from the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative found only 21.7% of artists in th...

Watch a Laser-Eyed WHIPPED CREAM Wreak Havoc in “DUMB SH!T” Music Video

Vancouver-based rising star WHIPPED CREAM has been generating buzz lately with her unique blend of hip-hop elements within her productions. Her latest effort, “DUMB SH!T (feat. Jasiah)” is a trappy modern rap banger, and today, the track’s music video was released.  The video opens with WHIPPED CREAM emerging from a spaceship to wow Jasiah and his crew, who are hanging out in the badlands of California. Her laser beam eyes seem to make the group of humans lose their minds, and for the rest of the video they do “DUMB SH!T,” like destroying an old car and throwing chairs around.  The video is strictly a mirror of the energy of the single, the purpose of which is to energize the listener or viewer with hard-hitting bass and nearly screamed verses, courtesy of Jasiah. If 2020 n...

WHIPPED CREAM Drops House VIP of “So Thick” with Baby Goth

WHIPPED CREAM is fresh off her highly praised debut EP WHO IS WHIPPED CREAM? and has no plans to slow down the momentum. She’s now dropped a VIP house edit of the fan-favorite “So Thick” featuring Baby Goth. After originally appearing in the popular 2019 DC Comics superhero film Birds of Prey, the track has received a darker flip to bring it straight to nightclubs we all wish we could be attending.  While the original is a quirky hip-hop crossover, WHIPPED CREAM steadies out the beat on the VIP flip, adding in haunting sirens that bring an underground energy to the production. Baby Goth’s vocals pair perfectly with the dark house pattern. She keeps their playful spirit, but adds in elements that make it feel even more sultry then before.  Th...
