Although Kanye West’s late mother Donda was a professor, we weren’t necessarily betting on the rapper to go down the education path himself. But alas, the mogul has emerged with Donda Academy, his new Christan prep school in Simi Valley, California — although, perhaps unsurprisingly, the jury’s still out on its legitimacy. “Using an ethic of integrity and care, Donda Academy prepares students to become the next generation of leaders, thinkers and innovators by providing them with a world-class education that includes a rigorous core curriculum, and an emphasis on sustainability, creativity, critical thinking and problem solving,” the school’s website says. As for that core curriculum, Donda Academy aims to “promote ideation, prototyping, and real-world implementation,” while faith wil...
Kid Rock probably thinks he made some sort of grand statement about ending racism in his new music video for “Never Quit,” a track from his most recent album Bad Reputation. The message rings entirely hollow, however, when the artist delivering it takes pride in flying the Confederate flag and palled around with a president who courted the support of white supremacists. In the video, a Black man discovers his store has been vandalized in what seems to be an almost entirely white town. The camera makes sure to linger several times on his framed photo with a white man he served with, an image of a white Jesus, and a thin blue line flag; interpret that how you may. Due to his longstanding ties to the community, the town quickly rallies together to help with the cleanup process....
Johnny Depp gifted Kate Moss her first set of diamonds by pulling them out of his butt. Moss looked back on the memory in a new interview with British Vogue, where she explained the origins of some of her most famous fashion looks. In one such outfit Moss paired a white John Galliano dress with a diamond necklace that Depp pulled out of “the crack of his arse.” “We were going out for dinner and he said, ‘I’ve got something in my bum, can you have a look?’ And I went, ‘What?’ And I put my hand down his trousers and I pulled out a diamond necklace,” Moss said. “That diamond necklace.” Watch the model recount the strange experience below. It may seem odd to try to make a racist transphobe a sympathetic character, but hey, that’s J.K. Rowling for you. The author’s latest book, The Ink Black Heart, is all about a content creator who is persecuted for being transphobic — a novel idea, considering Rowling’s history. The Ink Black Heart is part of Rowling’s crime series Cormoran Strike and is written under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. In the book, YouTube cartoon creator Edie Ledwell is criticized for being racist, ableist, and transphobic in her work (per Rolling Stone). Soon enough, she’s doxxed with photos of her home spread online and receives death and rape threats. You’d be right to assume Rowling got the idea for The Ink Black Heart from her own life, since she has, in recent years, tweeted her supp...
Before you think about bringing another pet into the family despite your partner’s wishes, think again. Sylvester Stallone’s wife, model Jennifer Flavin, reportedly filed for divorce after the couple disagreed over whether or not to get a new dog. TMZ reports that Stallone wanted to adopt a Rottweiler to help protect their family, but Flavin wasn’t into the idea — spurring a heated argument earlier this summer that apparently brought up a number of other issues between the couple. Sources told TMZ “none of those issues appeared to be marriage-enders,” although we think the timing is a little too convenient. Regardless, Stallone persisted and adopted a Rottweiler anyway. The pup, Dwight, shares a first name with Stallone’s character on the upcoming Paramount+ crime drama series Tulsa King.&...
Capitol Records has “severed ties” with AI robot rapper FN Meka, whose use of the N-word in previous songs resurfaced after his signing to the label. In a statement, the record company issued an apology to the Black community for not “asking enough questions about equity and the creative process behind it.” “CMG has severed ties with the FN Meka project, effective immediately,” the statement reads. “We offer our deepest apologies to the Black community for our insensitivity in signing this project without asking enough questions about equity and the creative process behind it. We thank those who have reached out to us with constructive feedback in the past couple of days — your input was invaluable as we came to the decision to end our association with the project.” FN Meka’s recently rele...
In an apparent bid to save money on residuals, Warner Bros. Discovery has been removing content from HBO Max. The process began earlier this month with the unceremonious removal of dozens of HBO Max original series and movies such as Vinyl and Camping, and An American Pickle; earlier this week, another 36 titles disappeared from the platform. Now, in an especially egregious affront to parents of young children, WBD has removed over 200 classic Sesame Street episodes from HBO Max’s library, without warning. HBO Max became the exclusive home of Sesame Street in 2019; in addition to producing new episodes, the streamer hosts the show’s 50-plus-year library. But as Tough Pigs points out, as of Friday morning, HBO Max’s Sesame Street archive is suddenly barren. Of the 250 episodes from the firs...
We wouldn’t dare be the ones to tell Kanye West if his Yeezy designs were trash, but it sure does look like he’s asking for it. Nonetheless, the rapper has defended the clothing display for his new Yeezy Gap line, wherein piles of ill-fitting neutrals were sheepishly tossed together in what appears to be literal garbage bags. Ye received a fair amount of backlash for the trash bag display — which he emphasized were actually construction bags — and was accused of mocking homeless people. Fittingly enough, he went on the air with Fox News to explain his thought process behind the display. “Look man, I’m an innovator, and I’m not here to sit up and apologize about my ideas,” Ye said from the Times Square Gap store, adding that his goal was to make fashion more accessible and informal. “T...
T.I. punched one of The Chainsmokers in the face. You might be having a bad day, you might be despairing at the state of the world, but we have proof that good things do happen. For instance, T.I. punching one of The Chainsmokers in the face. “T.I. just literally punched me in the face,” The Chainsmoker’s Drew Taggart explained in a TikTok on August 16th. Slurring his words, he added, “We were on a vibe, and I gave him a kiss on the cheek, and he totally punched me in the face. It was my fault.” His partner Alex Pall was then given an order: “‘You need to get get your boy.’” Taggart continued, “He punched me in the face, and I was like, ‘Ok, I’m sorry,’ and he was like, ‘Alright, cool, we’re good’ It was the weirdest interaction ever.” Advertisement Related Video T.I....
Manchester rapper Aitch has an album coming out soon, and his promotional team chose a sensitive spot for an advertisement. Following a social media uproar, Aitch has promised to “fix” a mural honoring Joy Division’s Ian Curtis that was painted over for an advertisement promoting his new album. The mural of Joy Division frontman Curtis was painted by the graffiti artist Akse P19 in 2020 in collaboration with the mental health awareness festival Headstock UK. Aske posted about his work being covered on Instagram, explaining that the mural was supported by the Manchester City Council and other organizations as a mental health awareness initiative. “It doesn’t take much common sense to understand that this mural should have remained for what it represented and stood for,” the artist said. Breakfast is served at the dog pound: Snoop Dogg has unveiled his very own breakfast cereal, named — what else? — Snoop Loopz. The circular cereal is billed as an alternative to Froot Loopz, with “more corn, more flavor, and more marshmallows,” per Master P, who shared the news via his socials this week. Snoop Loopz will be distributed in grocery stores by Snoop’s own company Broadus Foods, which already boasts a range of “Mama Snoop’s” breakfast products. (Better yet, it supports charitable organizations like Door of Hope.) We haven’t had a chance to taste test Snoop Loopz yet, but take it from Master P. himself: It’s “berry delicious fo shizzle,” and is likely best served with your greens on the side. Check out the Snoop Loopz box below. Advertisement Related Video In more recent Sn...
