The Muppets Show Raise the Curtain on Trailer for New Revival

At its peak in the 1970s, The Muppet Show was a sensational, inspirational, celebrational meta good time, and with the help of Sabrina Carpenter and executive producer Seth Rogen, that same magic might be possible now. The trailer for the new special reveals that Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, and Rowlf are back for a new version of the classic variety show — according to the official synopsis, “Music, comedy, and a whole lot of chaos are bound to ensue when The Muppets once again take the stage of the original Muppet Theatre with their very special guest, Sabrina Carpenter!”

In addition to the human cast (including Rogen and newly announced guest star Maya Rudolph), The Muppet Show‘s return will feature veteran Muppet performers Bill Barretta, Dave Goelz, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman and Matt Vogel. Goelz, the press release notes, has been a Muppeteer for over 50 years, performed on the original Muppet Show, and originated characters like Gonzo and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, “among many others.”

Check out the first trailer below. The special event will premiere on Disney+ at 12:00 a.m. PT / 3:00 a.m. ET and on ABC at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. For evidence that Carpenter will easily be able to match wits with her fuzzy co-stars, here’s her recent experience day-drinking with Seth Meyers.
