Things We Loved in Music This Week: July 18

Cactus Jack – JACKBOYS 2 & JACKBOYS 2 (DELUXE)

On Sunday, the long-anticipated JACKBOYS 2 finally dropped. Travis Scott‘s Cactus Jack – including Don Toliver and Sheck Wes – at last, delivered the follow-up to 2019’s JACKBOYS. JACKBOYS 2 spans 17 songs, with features from SahBabii, Vybz Kartel, Playboi Carti, Future, Tyla, GloRilla, Wallie the Sensei, and YoungBoy Never Broke Again. Just a few days after the album dropped, Scott followed up with three more tracks on the JACKBOYS 2 (DELUXE), which features one more Travis song, a Sheck Wes x Yeat song, and a Wallie the Sensei x Luxury Tax song.

Che – REST IN BASS

Che has unveiled his latest full-length studio project, REST IN BASS. The underground ATL rapper’s new release spans 18 tracks and marks his third studio album.

Dev Hynes Announces New Blood Orange Album

Revealed in an Instagram video, Dev Hynes announced that there’s a new Blood Orange album on the way. With a star-studded list of features – Lorde, Brendan Yates, Mustafa and Daniel Caesar included – the new album, entitled Essex Honey, is confirmed to drop on August 29.

Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist Drop Alfredo: The Movie, Confirm Alfredo 2 Details

At last, a proper update on Freddie Gibbs x The Alchemist‘s Alfredo 2. Not only did the pair drop off the short Tokyo crime film Alfredo: The Movie, complete with a one-night-only premiere at the Brain Dead store in LA, but they also confirmed the official release details for the long-awaited Alfredo follow-up. Alfredo 2 is confirmed to drop on July 25 and spans 14 tracks – features coming from Larry June, JID and Anderson .Paak.

Gabriel Moses Directs Travis Scott “DUMBO” Visual

One of two videos directed by Gabriel Moses this week, first came the visual for Travis Scott’s JACKBOYS 2 cut “DUMBO.” What marked the first in a series of daily visuals to come from the album, “DUMBO” is a crisp, clean, classic Moses visual that takes Scott’s sonic offering to the next level.

Gabriel Moses Also Directs Clipse’s “Chains & Whips” Visual

Just a few hours later, Clipse shared the official music video for Let God Sort Em Out track with Kendrick Lamar, “Chains & Whips” – which also sees Moses at the helm of creative direction.

Bad Bunny – “ALAMBRE PúA”

Earlier in the week, Bad Bunny surprised fans with his first new song since the release of DTMF – a new track with quite the cover art – “ALAMBRE PúA.”

Metro Boomin Announces A Futuristic Summa

After building up to the announcement for a bit now, Metro Boomin has officially announced his next studio endeavor. Dubbed A Futuristic Summa, the album is slated to drop globally on July 22.
