TIDE Debuts in Hong Kong with Dual‑Venue Exhibition ‘EDIT’

TIDE Debuts in Hong Kong with Dual‑Venue Exhibition ‘EDIT’

Summary

  • Japanese artist TIDE is set to present his first solo exhibition in Hong Kong across two locations: BELOWGROUND and WKM Gallery
  • Titled EDIT, the showcase will feature his signature cat character in new paintings, plus an exclusive sculpture and limited print

Japanese contemporary artist TIDE is making his Hong Kong debut with the two-location solo exhibition, EDIT, hosted simultaneously at BELOWGROUND and WKM Gallery.

This dual-location showcase will present a new series of monochromatic paintings that center on his signature cartoon cat character — a recurring motif that serves as a vessel for exploring themes of domestic life, familial bonds and childhood innocence. Alongside these works, the exhibition will also unveil a specially crafted sculpture and limited print, available exclusively during the exhibition period, further expanding the artist’s visual language across mediums.

The exhibition reflects TIDE’s evolving practice, where the awareness of time plays a central role. Each piece of artwork is built through a layered process, with the artist repeatedly returning to the canvas to erase, redraw and overlay elements, creating depth and complexity that mirrors memory and lived experience. By situating EDIT across two distinct venues – the experimental retail‑art hybrid BELOWGROUND and the contemporary‑focused WKM Gallery – the exhibition highlights both the intimate and expansive qualities of TIDE’s work.

TIDE’s EDIT exhibition will be available for viewing at BELOWGROUND from January 15 – 31, 2026. At WKM Gallery, the showcase will be on view between January 17 and March 7, 2026.
