TOHO Animation has released the main promotional video for the second season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, offering a sweeping look at the next chapter of the elf mage’s introspective voyage.
The video introduces a new musical tone for the series, revealing and previewing the opening theme song “lulu.” by the popular Japanese band Mrs. GREEN APPLE. Alongside the new opening, the season also features an ending theme titled “The Story of Us” by milet, further enriching the emotional tone of the series. In addition to the musical reveal, the staff confirmed that veteran voice actor Kazuhiko Inoue will join the cast as the legendary Southern Hero, a character whose past is deeply intertwined with the lore of the Hero Party.
While Studio Madhouse returns to animate the sequel, the production sees a notable shift in leadership; Tomoya Kitagawa, who directed several standout episodes in the first season, moves into the director’s chair, while original director Keiichirō Saitō remains in a supporting role. This transition promises to maintain the series’ acclaimed visual fidelity and slow-burn pacing as Frieren, Fern and Stark journey toward the northern lands of Ende.
