It’s easy to assume fashion trends should stay in their lane. Chunky knits and kilts? Perfect for when The Traitors is on TV or you’re on a countryside jaunt. Black lace? Hello, Halloween season. But what if you break the fashion rule book and opt for a curveball out-of-context outfit? Well, that’s exactly what I’m suggesting when it comes to the second drop of the Adidas x Asos 2.0 collection.

Forget any preconceived notions of the iconic three stripes only suitable for gyms or lazy lounging around Sundays in tracksuits. This range is elevated and is perfect for party season. Don’t believe me? Well I went to the launch party and saw the collection styled in so many different ways that it’s made me reevaluate my sequins.

Take, for example, the Grey track set (£180) in heritage check. Yes, there’s those instantly recognisable three stripes adorning each side, but it’s all about the cut. The wide-leg trousers are tailored so they sit perfectly with a pair of heels, while the oversized jacket sits at the waist for an overtly cool take on the laidback co-ord.

A Black satin maxi dress (£75) with lace trim has subtle stripes at the side giving it that sporty edge while maintaining a sophisticated silhouette ideal for any Christmas party. Then there is the mesh, Sequinned midi skirt (£65). It’s sexy, sheer and plays perfectly into the sports luxe aesthetic. Other pieces to catch my eye? Knitted hot pants, preppy tops and an oversized shirt complete with toggled waist to add shape.

Ultimately, it’s a hybrid collection that works harder than most of your wardrobe combined. Like a singer nervously awaiting that difficult second album critique, I was apprehensive about this second collaboration, but can honestly say I’m thrilled. The party to launch the range was full of celebs including Bridgerton’s Charithra Chandran, Love Island’s Toni Waites and the iconic Sally Webster, aka Sally Dynevor, from Coronation Street, all wearing individual takes on the outfits.

While I opted for the Wool Rugby Top (£65) with a pair of barrel leg jeans (seen above), I have already bagged multiple other pieces that I know I’ll wear over the coming weeks, social battery dependent. And the best part? The items work for the post-party hangover, too. Thrown on the Zip-up jumper (£75) and you’re good to go for that emergency full fat Coke.
