Universal Confirms 'Fast 11' Title, Sets Official Release Date

Summary

  • Universal Pictures has officially scheduled the next installment of the Fast & Furious franchise for a 2028 global release
  • The upcoming film has been formally titled Fast Forever and will serve as the eleventh chapter in the long-running action saga
  • Vin Diesel confirmed the news via social media following previous production delays and shifting timelines for the project

Universal Pictures and Vin Diesel have officially confirmed the release date for the next chapter of the Fast & Furious franchise, now titled Fast Forever. After years of speculation and shifting production schedules, the studio has locked in a Spring 2028 slot for the high-octane sequel. Vin Diesel, the series’ cornerstone and producer, took to Instagram to announce the milestone, signaling the beginning of the end for the multi-billion dollar “Fast” saga that has defined modern action cinema for over two decades.

The development of Fast Forever follows the cliffhanger ending of Fast X, which left the fate of Dominic Toretto and his crew hanging in the balance. While the project was originally envisioned for an earlier debut, the timeline was pushed back to allow director Louis Leterrier and the creative team to align on the narrative’s massive scale and budget. The title change from Fast X: Part II to Fast Forever suggests a thematic pivot toward a definitive legacy-building finale for the central cast, including Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, and Ludacris.

Production is expected to maintain the franchise’s signature global footprint, utilizing practical stunts and muscle car choreography that have become the brand’s hallmark. Diesel’s recent announcement also included a tribute to the late Paul Walker, reinforcing that the upcoming film will heavily emphasize the “family” heritage that has sustained the series since its 2001 debut.

Check out Vin Diesel’s announcement below. Fast Forever hits theaters March 17, 2028.
