A24 has dropped the full trailer for Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme starring Timothée Chalamet.
The two-and-a-half-minute visual begins with a conversation between aspiring table tennis star Marty Mauser (Chalamet) and Kay Stone (Gwyneth Paltrow), with the latter advising Marty to be realistic about his career plans. Marty is confident in his athletic abilities, however, dismissing any ideas of failure from family and friends. He goes through hell and back in pursuit of his dreams, meeting friends, lovers and business associates on his journey to be the best.
Joining Chalamet and Paltrow in the cast are Odessa A’Zion, Kevin O’Leary, Tyler Okonma/Tyler, the Creator, Abel Ferrara and Fran Drescher. Safdie also wrote the film with Ronald Bronstein, and the two produced alongside Eli Bush, Anthony Katagas and Chalamet.
Marty Mauser is loosely inspired by the late Marty Reisman, a five-time bronze medalist at the World Table Tennis Championships. He won a total of 22 major table tennis titles from 1946 to 2002, and became the oldest player to win an open national competition in a racket sport in 1997.
