5 Expensive-Looking Trends I'm Shopping at M&S For Autumn

You know it. We know it. They know it. M&S is just so good right now. In fact, the high street hero has been impressing again in the fashion stakes for a good few seasons. After *that* cyber attack recently shut down the website, myself and my fellow editors were at a loss for where to get our hit of affordable yet chic seasonal staples. Off to our local store it was. All I can say is thank goodness they’ve managed to get back up and running, just in time for us to build our autumn/winter wardrobes.

Because M&S, however unassuming its famous basics may first appear, has actually become a brand I really rely on for those key on-trend buys as well. Maybe that’s showing my age, but I genuinely love how M&S adapts its classics each season to tap into the latest trends. Not too much—you won’t find any polarising, flash-in-the-pan buys here—but just enough of a design update to make time-old staples feel fresh. A ballet flat now in suede, a pair of black jeans now in a barrel shape, a grey knit now in cardigan form. As a result, adding only one or two M&S new-in additions can update your everyday wardrobes instantly, yet the pieces remain timeless enough to pull out year after year.

Style Notes: I instantly added Danielle’s suede ankle boots and cream jeans from M&S to my basket.

For autumn 2025 specifically, think checks (a checked shirt is the easy hack every fashion girl is using right now to update their transitional basics), rich-looking suede accessories, and tough leather outerwear. Clashing textures, from fluffy knits to silky separates, and just a hint of animal print are particular highlights as well. These are pieces that make outfits look more expensive and polished, and all-together more thought out and intentional, with minimal effort. What’s not to love?

Keep scrolling to see the five autumn trends I’m personally tapping into at M&S this season, and I know my fellow fashion friends are too.
