Ren Meguro, the J-pop star from boy group Snow Man is officially set to play Kazutada in FX’s Shōgun season two. Meguro started his career as a member of the J-pop group Snow Man, later broke into film with As Long as We Both Shall Live. He also featured in Trillion Game: The Movie, the upcoming Hodonaku, Owakare desu, and also the live-action adaptation of Sakamoto Days.

Adapted from James Clavell’s original novel, Shōgun tells the story of the first Englishman to arrive in Japan, who witnessed the rise of the Tokugawa Ieyasu clan but also became diplomatic advisor. The series received 25 Primetime Emmy nominations and record-breaking 18 wins including Drama Series, Lead Actor in a Drama Series, and Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Season two will start its production on new season in January in Vancouver, no release date has been announced yet.
