Aphex Twin Releases Two New Songs

Aphex Twin has released two new songs and given fans a peek at the identity of his girlfriend.

The musician took to SoundCloud to gift his fans two unpolished gems on Thanksgiving: ”Zahl am 1c f760m1 unfinshd,” and “Zahl am1 live track 1.” Both songs sound surprisingly finished, but different. Where the former spreads its nostalgic ambience over a dance floor-ready groove, the latter trades in the drums and doubles down on the atmospheric vibe.

According to Stereogum, the name of the tracks is a reference to the Zähl soundboard that Aphex Twin used to mix them. Their covers are the same, featuring Aphex Twin having a good time at the beach with a mystery woman who Reddit’s volunteer detectives have identified as filmmaker Cordelia Angel-Clarke.

In the caption for the track, Aphex Twin wrote, “got many requests for this one from a few years back, italy, pic with my love from scilly recently…need sun…relentlessly raining in uk…mixed down on the zahl, think theres better mixes, will upload if i find em.”
