The xx Play First Show in Eight Years in Mexico City: Setlist + Video

The xx regrouped for their first show since 2018 on Friday night at the Pepsi Center in Mexico City.

The performance arrived after nearly a decade of focusing on solo projects; Oliver Sim unveiled his first solo album Hideous Bastard in 2022, Romy released her debut album Mid Air in 2023, and Jamie xx followed up 2015’s seminal In Colour with 2024’s In Waves. Now, the trio have returned for a limited run of shows in 2026, with appearances to come at Coachella next week as well as Primavera Sound, Lollapalooza, Osheaga, and more throughout the year.

For the first of their three shows in Mexico City, The xx brought a career-spanning setlist of 19 songs, performing beloved tracks like “Crystalized” and “Islands” from their 2009 debut, “Angels” from their 2012 sophomore effort, and “I Dare You” from their most recent album, 2017’s I See You. They also staged solo songs, like Jamie xx’s “Loud Places,” his collab with Gil Scott-Heron, “I’ll Take Care of U,” Oliver Sim’s “GMT,” and Romy’s “Enjoy Your Life.”

The xx haven’t confirmed a new album yet, but they did reveal in 2024 that a “wide open” new project was in the works. They’ve also yet to announce a proper comeback tour, but they will be performing two more consecutive nights in Mexico City, followed by a major set on Friday, April 10th for Coachella’s first weekend; check out their tour dates below, and get tickets to see The xx here.
