The cult‑favorite crime action manga MURCIÉLAGO is officially set to receive its long‑awaited anime adaptation in 2027. Announced during Anime Expo with the release of a striking teaser video, the series, which has sold over 2.3 million copies worldwide, follows former death‑row inmate turned government executioner Kuroko Koumori and her partner Hinako Tozakura as they confront society’s darkest corners with unrestrained violence and style.

Production is being helmed by chief director Takashi Naoya and director Matsuo Asami, with animation jointly handled by Satelight and Staple Entertainment. The blistering 50-second debut teaser trailer offers a kinetic, highly contrasted preview of the series’ signature lethal action and dark humor. The footage rapidly introduces the franchise’s legendary, eccentric duo: Kuroko Koumori, a former death row serial killer turned state-sanctioned executioner, and her bright-eyed, pink-haired partner Hinako Tozakura, a naive girl possessing legendary driving skills.
