Sony Pictures is officially moving forward with its Columbia Pictures adaptation of the Metal Gear Solid movie.

Following their work on Final Destination: Bloodlines, directing duo Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein have signed an expansive first-look deal with Sony Pictures. Under their newly launched Wonderlab banner, the filmmakers are now set to direct the cinematic adaptation of Metal Gear Solid. This marks the first time the blockbuster video game — originally created by visionary designer Hideo Kojima — will be brought to the big screen.

The feature will be produced by Avi Arad and Ari Arad, drawing upon the pioneering stealth combat, sci-fi themes, and intricate espionage lore that defined the iconic gaming franchise. While previous iterations of the film’s development saw Oscar Isaac attached to star as Solid Snake under director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, it remains unclear how much of that original framework will be retained by the new creative team.

Stay tuned for an official trailer and release details.
