Jack White helped kick off rock and roll day at Coachella, where Saturday’s schedule also promised sets from The Strokes, Interpol, Nine Inch Noize, David Byrne, Alex G, Blondshell, and more. A last-minute addition to the lineup, White set an early bar to beat with his blistering afternoon performance at Mojave.
Allotted just 45 minutes, he made the most of every second. Stage banter was minimal, guitar changes were few, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer seemed singularly focused on filling the Indio desert with as much rock music as possible. His career-spanning set pulled from The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, and his solo catalog, with a song selection focused on maximizing face-melting guitar moments (see: “Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground,” “Lazaretto,” “Icky Thump,” “Ball and Biscuit”).
Credit, too, to White’s razor-sharp band — drummer Patrick Keeler, bassist Dominic Davis, and keyboardist Bobby Emmett — who matched White’s intensity note for note.
White just announced a 2026 North American tour, with dates set to kick off in July.
