While Netflix declined to comment on the project, sources state that Christopher Monfette, known for his work on Star Trek: Picard and 9-1-1, is attached to write the series and will serve as the showrunner and executive producer.
The production is reportedly backed by heavy-hitting industry talent, with Shawn Levy (Deadpool & Wolverine) and Robert Atwood executive producing via 21 Laps, alongside the media company Story Kitchen. It remains unclear whether the adaptation will directly translate the plot of a specific game, such as the immensely popular Persona 5, or carve out an entirely original narrative set within the same universe.
