Bart Simpson Actress Believes The Simpsons Will End Soon

Bart Simpson Actress Believes The Simpsons Will End Soon

The voice of Bart Simpson has spoken and declared the end may be nigh.

On the August 4th episode of Michael Rosenbaum’s Inside of You podcast, Nancy Cartwright, the actress who has voiced Bart since 1987, said that she believes The Simpsons will end after its 40th season.

When asked if she was sure that’s when the show will end, Cartwright clarified by saying, “It’s my opinion.”

The Simpsons will start season 38 in late September after receiving a renewal through the show’s 40th season. Season 40 will end in the spring of 2029. Cartwright isn’t looking to retire from the show, however, and if the team that makes the cartoon is still together after season 40 and the show is renewed again, she would stick around, she told Rosenbaum.

“Would you go as long as they wanted to keep going?” Rosenbaum asked her, and Cartwright responded by saying, “Absolutely.”

The Simpsons’ characters have been on television for 39 years, after coming out as a sketch on The Tracey Ullman Show in the late 1980s, and the show is the longest-running animated television series in the U.S, debuting as a standalone in 1989. A second Simpsons movie is scheduled for release on July 23rd, 2027.
