Netflix has officially confirmed the release schedule for Ink, Danny Boyle’s forthcoming Rupert Murdoch-focused feature. First reported by Ryan Gajewski and John DiLillo, the film is scheduled to open in select theaters on December 11, 2026, before launching on Netflix across the United States and Latin America on January 8, 2027.
Adapted by playwright James Graham from his own Tony-winning stage production, the drama explores the high-stakes evolution of modern tabloid journalism. The storyline focuses on media mogul Rupert Murdoch (Guy Pearce) hiring editor Larry Lamb (Jack O’Connell) to reshape British newspaper The Sun into a populist media powerhouse. Claire Foy joins the lead cast as Jules Davies.
Produced by StudioCanal, Media Res, and House Productions alongside Boyle, Tracey Seaward, Tessa Ross, and Michael Ellenberg, the project chronicles the disruption of traditional media long before the digital era. Prior to its theatrical and streaming debuts, Ink will host its world premiere in competition as the opening film of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival on September 2, followed by a screening at the Toronto International Film Festival.
