Bay Area music fest curated by LCD Soundsystem and more – SFGATE

Bay Area music fest curated by LCD Soundsystem and more - SFGATE

On Tuesday, concert promoter AEG Presents announced its Re:SET concert series, an artist-curated roving festival that is expected to travel to 12 cities this summer. The Bay Area shows are slated to take place at Stanford’s Frost Amphitheater from June 2 through 4, with the artists over the three days selected by LCD Soundsystem, Steve Lacy and boygenius.

Frost Amphitheater has a capacity of about 8,000 people and will only feature one stage of music, so there won’t be another repeat of the Phoebe Bridgers versus SZA debacle from Outside Lands last year. Although Re:SET avoids using the term “festival,” for all practical purposes, this is basically just a smaller version of a three-day outdoor fest, complete with clear bag rules and a yet-to-be-announced selection of food vendors.

Phoebe Bridgers performs at Outside Lands in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco on Friday, Aug. 5, 2022.

Speaking of Bridgers, she’s scheduled to perform Sunday of the festival as part of her band boygenius, which includes Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker. The opening acts, picked by the supergroup, include Clairo, Dijon and Bartees Strange, in what will surely be the most heart-on-sleeve of the three days.

LCD Soundsystem’s bill skews more towards those looking to party, with British producer Jamie xx, punk rockers IDLES and New Orleans bounce queen Big Freedia, as well as some yet-to-be-named artists from DFA Records. Steve Lacy’s chosen lineup splits the difference, with James Blake supplying some electronic emo ballads, Toro Y Moi representing the Bay Area and newcomer Foushee, whom Lacy collaborated with on the song “Sunshine.”

General admission entry costs $99.50, with a three-day ticket selling for $250 (VIP tickets cost $275 and $650 respectively). Register at Re:SET’s website for presale ticket access, which begins Feb. 7 at 10 a.m.
